Default Ryan Johansen & Yakupov for Wheeler & B. Schenn

Verbally ran this by the GM to see what he would think. My RyJo & Yakupov for his Wheeler & B. Schenn. It's for the league in signature. I feel like I will win out in hits, and may win out in points depending on Yakupov's future development (but of course he has the highest potential).

The other GM said he is considering it, and is "unsure" - AKA. he is on the fence and I can probably find a way to get it done.

    Try to make it happen?

It's a fair deal but a lot depends on how you value Yak. Personally I'm not sold on him either but if I owned him I wouldn't be trying to sell him right now, I'd at least hope for a fast start (say he starts off with 8 pts in 5 games or something)

    Wowza this is super tricky.

As of right now, we probably know Wheeler's ceiling is 70, maybe 72 points tops. 28 years old, not much left to say about that. Hell of a player and the hits are a nice touch.

Brayden Schenn - Talk about a guy who is very criminally underrated right now. Kid hasn't even played 200 games yet and despite steady improvements people are still whispering he's a bust. If anyone was gonna bust out under the "4 year rule" it's Brayden Schenn.

RyJo - Well, the numbers speak for themselves on this kid. A solid hitter in his own right, he could top out like Wheeler or he could take it a few points beyond that, maybe 75 tops I'd say.

Yakupov - Legit have no idea what to think. He's gone on record saying he's gonna have a big year, and people quickly forget he led all rookies in goals during the lockout. I think last season was a bump in the road, some growing pains blah blah blah, and I see him bouncing back in a big way. My guess is he goes north of 60 points next season.

Points wise I wouldn't be surprised to see the points come out in the wash. If I had to guess in the primes, 150 combined for RJ and Yak, maybe 135 for Wheeler + Schenn. The added hits are nice and combined with guys like Buff, weber, Getz and Benn you could lock down that category on a weekly basis while not sacrificing scoring.

Lol I dunno man, I'm trying to talk through all of this in my head but by the end I think I'm even more torn than when I started.

I don't think I would make this deal because I feel long term R.Johansen will be the best piece traded here!!

I hate Brayden Schenn. Like well documented, large amount of hate for Brayden Schenn. He's the most overhyped prospect I've ever seen (In terms of talent vs. hype) and he is the perfect definition of a JAG.

I'd keep the RyJo side. Yakupov could put it together and could be a really good player, or he could bust. Schenn will never be anything special. 45-55 point guy. Yak could hit 80. And I think RyJo/Wheeler are about even, but RyJo still has the chance to develop and be even better. RyJo/Yak is the risky side but I think it's easily worth the risk.

I would keep the Johansen and Yakupov side. Younger and higher potential in my opinion.

I never like the risky side; but I like it better here: Johansen and Yakupov for me.

Another vote for RJ and Yak - Wheeler is a solid piece but Schenn is going to be waiver fodder.

Wow. I am surprised it's so unanimous. Thanks for the input, everyone. Is the sticking point Schenn? Would you do it if it were just Johansen for Wheeler?

For me the sticking point is Johansen, I like him more then Wheeler in a keeper league. Although to be fair I'd rather gamble on Yak over Schenn as well, I'd keep what you have.

Sticking point for me is both.

I think RyJo and Wheeler are pretty even right now, but we don't know how high RyJo can go. Wheeler is what he is.

I like Yak much much much much much (how many times should I type this to emphasize it?) much better than Schenn. Sure he might bust and be in the K in 2 years. Or he could become a 70+ point player. Yak's downside is 0 (gone to the KHL) but his upside is like 85. Schenn's downside is 30 but his upside is 50. Worth the risk.

    No, I'd keep Johansen.

True, but as it stands right now:

Wheeler has put up the higher point totals and takes more shots and hits. And while Schenn's downside is being a 40 point guy, that will come with 200+ hits and nearly 200 shots.

I don't know... I don't want to get too caught up in the "sky is the limit" for RyJo.
