I’m pretty biased (leaf fan and Crosby hater) but I am also a fan of winning. This trade is a make or break your team kinda trade.

In a goal scoring league (+3 for hat tricks) I’ll take the side of Kessel and Perry. And to boot you get Bishop to solidify your goaltending. I’d be pretty hesitant to run with Holtby and Anderson (Ottawa’s). I’m curious how other teams look, considering Bishop, Johansen and Nyquist aren’t keepers on those teams.

Always interesting how people think about Crosby. If he gets over 70 games, he’s almost guaranteed to have 100pts. Also if he’s around 80 games, he’ll get close to 40 goals. No matter how long I stare at Crosby’s stats, I still see him as an assist man, not a goal scorer. But with almost a 0.5goals per game for his career, one can say he’s a goal scorer.

Personally I'd pass. Granted, last offseason I asked the forum if I should trade Tavares for Benn + Perry and everyone said no and I ended up making and handily winning that trade, but then I'm not in a salary cap league. Personally, I say no, mainly because of how good a value Crosby is at his cap hit, but this is a pretty decent offer and I couldn't fault you for taking it. If you do, I'd draft Bishop with the first overall.

    7 team x 12F = 84F.
    So it's really a 3-for-3 trade.
    Crosby + #84F + #85F
    vs.
Kessel + Perry + Draft Pick

You'd have to make the salary amount's all equal.
Using Nyquist as your choice, you're looking at:

    By Points: 80pts/$8.0m Kessel + 75pts/$8.6m Perry + 60pts/$0.9m Nyquist. TOTAL = 215pts/$17.5m

Compare that to Crosby's side and assume that you can get a few $4.4m forwards scoring 50pts to slot in.

    By Points: 100pts/$8.7m Crosby + 50pts/$4.4m PlayerX + 50pts/$4.4m. TOTAL = 200pts/$17.5m

I like the Kessel/Perry/Nyquist side, in a "keep all".

I like the Kessel and Perry side. I think your getting two top 10 guys for the best player in the league but that draft pick expically with the low cap hit (bishop) pushes it in your favour for me.

Thats actually pretty decent offer for Crosby IMO.. I am not sure i would do it (but that is pitt homer me talking).. Would this deal put you over the top for a win? If so that would be the deciding factor for me.

Curious if the analysis changes if you argue that you can get two 40 pt players for $1 million a piece to go with Crosby?
Crosby offers tremendous value for his cap hit and Nyqvist's contract is up this year, so the other question is can you afford 4-5 million per for the same 60pt guy after this year?

Man this is a toughie. I agree that this is pretty fair value for Crosby (although like others have said I'd try to squeeze out a little bit more), but I'm not sure I would do the deal based on your salaries. Crosby is going to be such a steal at 8.7M. He is a steal now, and will be even more so once the cap goes up and players get paid even more. The point about Nyquist is totally spot on by agoodburn, and if I did take this deal (which is honestly a coin flip in my mind) I would be drafting Bishop 1st overall for sure. Tough spot Big Baby (but a great spot to be in)
