    Default ESPN Opening Position Eligibility

So ESPN is back up, which means the players should now be listed with their start of season eligibility. Players of note:

Pavelski is RW (Meaning he will likely get C)
Seguin is C only this year
    Benn is LW
Neal starts out as LW (probably will get RW)
    Byfuglien is D (!!!!)
    Cammalleri is C
    Burns is RW

Theoretically these could change. But generally when the site is back up from maintenance they only add positions, not remove them.

If Burns keeps that forward eligibility all year that's huge.

I'm expecting Yahoo! to come out with dual eligibility for Burns (D/RW), Buff (D/RW), and Pavelski (C/RW).
    Hopefully not more than that.

Even though Burns is slated for full-time D and Buff for full-time RW... there are a lot of fantasy pools where the GMs expect that if a guy played a position for a good chunk of the year, then he should get that for NEXT year.
I mean, Fantasy Baseball may be the only one - but it has that system set up. I think it's like 10 games and they get eligibility for this year, maybe next too.

    James Neal should be RW.
He was left as LW for so long on so many sites though... ugh.

I wonder how they decide? Is it arbitrary?
Like the token guy on staff who happens to be from Minnesota (even though he only watches football) gets to decide?
Or do they base on something tangible (like that Buff played the majority of last year on D)?

I know in season they add position eligibility if a player is listed on the initial line-up sheet at that position for 10 games. I'm not quite sure how they decide pre-season.

I'm quite surprised Buff is D eligible this season, as I'm pretty sure ESPN was just about the only site to take away Burns D-eligibility last year. Lots of players in season will get double eligibility, I'll sift through the guys more tonight and try to come up with some more predictions.

Actually having a pretty busy day at work today so I don't have a ton of time right now

Jeebus, opening night and not one dual position player in the ESPN format. What a load of crap.

Probably won't get dual-eligibility for anybody for about 2 weeks, minimum.
