Default Reilly Smith -how much will he make

Anyone want to take a stab at what the cap hit will be on Reilly Smith's next contract?

Hopefully cheap since I own him in one of my cap leagues.

My guess is $1.75 million for two years. The Bruins are $1 million over the cap as it is. Take Savard off the books, and they have $3 million in cap space, with Smith and Krug still to sign.

I think the Bruins want him to sign for $1-$1.5 million, while Smith wants north of $2 million. Meet at $1.75 million for a bridge deal. Give Krug $2.25 million, and then the Bruins can trade someone like Paille and get under the cap.

Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

Krug at 2.25 would be such a steal. Smith at 1.75 would be a steal as well.

Can't see them signing both for that cheap, Bruins are gonna have to make a trade to get under the cap..........

Bruins are not only gonna put Savard on LTIR but they'l likely move out a defenseman. Signs points to Johnnny Boychuk to maximize trade value while reducing cap. Krug and Smith both deserve north of 2M per season. Wont be surprised if the Bruins skirt the cap a bit with bonuses on these two players.

With these types of deal so much depends on the term. However I think expecting less the $2 is optimistic. My guess would be $2.5-3.0 over two years.

RFAs can't sign bonus laden contracts, only players on ELC and +35 contracts can.

    Good to know!

Still like them both for a bridge at the 2M range and the Boychuk trade
