    Default Chara v Jack Johnson

Team in sig, long-standing keeper league and I'll be a contender this year. Which dman would you keep as 4th Dman (after Karlsson, Weber and Trouba)?

Chara for me. He'll help offset Karlsson's +/-, will get you more SOG, more goals, same PPP. If you're competing let this guy keep chugging away for you.

I'm going with Johnson. I could see Chara falling below 40 this year and not hitting it again, especially with how solid Boston's young D core is. The shots and blocks between Chara will balance out to be a toss up. I think Johnson on the emerging Blue Jackets is a safe bet for 30-35 points, but could just as easily post 40-45 points; whereas Chara I think is a safe bet for 35-40 points, but on a decline.

Long story short: I'll take the flyer on Johnson, especially in a keeper (even if you are contending).

I would keep Chara, great +/-, PIM, slight edge in points. Johnson lead in BS by 20 last season. For 14-15, I would go with Chara.

    Chara for me.
    But just slightly...
Especially since you're not building, but competing now.

It's Chara for me too. Not by much, but i can't see myself taking JJ over him just quite yet.

I figured this one woudl be tight, it's 4-4 in the poll. So many good arguments for keeping either player - I could see JJ produce 40+ with lots of SOG and BS, kind of a McDonagh impact (but with a far worse, albeit improving, plus minus). But Chara is Chara. The 10 years difference sucks frankly, which is why I was tending towards JJ. Rep all around, and keep the responses coming!
