    Default Acquiring Malkin

This potential transaction is for the league in my signature.

Another GM has recently announced that he would be open to trading Evgeni Malkin "for the right price".

Here is what I am thinking of offering:

    - 1st Round Pick 2016 (Mine - will be a late pick)
    - 2nd Round Pick 2015 (From a weaker team - could be the first pick in the round)
    - David Krejci
    - Any two of these three (his choice): Yakupov, Huberdeau, or Galchenyuk.

Am I insultingly low? A little high?

I honestly don't have a good read on this one.

    Help me out?

I don't think it's a bad offer but I wouldn't go for it, it never hurts to try though

If I'm reading your signature correctly you're having an expansion draft? Would the other team have to drop a ton of players just to acquire the players in the trade?

That's too low but it's a start. If I were a Malkin owner I'd want at least one young proven star. Krejci is not young, and the top blue chippers are not proven.

Well, to give you a perspective from the other side, I was given this offer:

    His: Malkin, Craig Anderson, McNabb

    for

My: Barkov, Nylander, Gibson, Allen, 2015 1st Rounder (Early), 2015 1st Rounder (Early), Alfredsson.

I never gave it a moments though before I rejected it.

I don't like that offer for Malkin. It's not all bad, but I don't like it.

Malkin is a top player, so I would want back either a top player too, or a good player and good prospects back. Krejci is not interesting imo.

Good luck on trading for him!

If I owned Malkin, I'm not accepting ANY offers that don't involve a least one star player in the realm of Hall, Seguin, Benn, P. Kane, Getzlaf, etc., and then I'd want draft picks and prospects/young players thrown in as well.

Looking over your team, I'd say an offer similar to this would interest me:

one of Backstrom, Benn, Kessel, MacKinnon, or Toews

two of Galchenyuk, Granlund, Huberdeau, Tarasenko, Yakupov, or one of these and some good draft picks
    12 team, H2H, salary cap
    1 pt/G or A, 2 pts/W, 1 pt/OTL, 1 pt/SO

Nice post. It's about getting some high-end talent when moving Malkin, imo. You can offer all the depth you want, but without a "star" player I wouldn't be making the move. Your offer is a good starting point, but don't expect it to get the deal done.

exactly...it was a couple of years ago, but I did move Malkin in a league very similar to the OP's and I got Tavares, Seguin (before Dallas), and the 2nd overall draft pick. Even then, there were many in the league that thought I was nuts, though I'd still make that deal today (obviously even moreso now that Seguin is with Dallas).

To give some perspective, I dealt him last year with Scheifele and Johansen for Seguin, MacKinnon and Hertl.
Not sure why the above poster rejected an offer of Malkin for his Barkov + top prospects. As a former Malkin owner, those were the types of deals I was turning down on a weekly basis.

Offered the two picks, Kessel, and one of the three young guys (his pick), straight across for Malkin.

No - every year we expand the league by 1-2 teams - you can only protect 10 players from the new teams.

Every year you lose 1 or 2 of your unprotected players, but you keep everyone else.
