    Default Scheifele Expectations

    Hey all,

I own Scheifele in my main keeper league and was wondering your thoughts on him. I know a lot of people are pretty high on him but I have a few concerns: Will he be stuck behind Little for the next four-ish years? Is being behind him good due to the quality of competition (like Turris experienced behind Spezza). Is his game too defensive to really breakout points-wise? Also any other opinions or point predictions would be much appreciated!

I own him too and I thought he showed more scoring potential than my other rooks, Coyle & Galchenyuk. I agree, 65-point set up man.

I like Scheif. I do see him behind Little for the next 3-4 years but after that I see a consistant 70 point #1 center.

If he can play a full season, I think he puts up 60+. The problem with him last season was that he looked really good for stretches, like a PPG player, but he was streaky, and then he got injured on top of that.

But you have to remember the team was pretty bad and probably demoralized considering the locker room cancers that team is fostering (Kane, possibly Byfuglien its hard to tell). So on a better team led by Maurice maybe the team plays a little better around him.

It was promising that he appeared to have some early chemistry with Kane though, and throughout the season he was praised by the coaching staff.

You guys are all drinking too much silly juice. How does this guy put up 60+ points.

How does he go from a 45 point pace to 60 plus. Maybe in 3 years.

I was under the impression this was a long term perspective thread, not a 2014-2015.

I am a jets fan and like Sheif alot. That being said- there is SO much hype around him right now. Im hoping he settles into a topline center role- but its too early to say in my books and I can easily see him as a very effective 1b or 2nd line center as well.

This is one kid I'm drinking the kool aid on. Started watching the Jets last year to get a feel on trouba, I'm drinking his kool aid also. Outside of trouba, Scheifele was really impressing me.. I'm guessing 60 for him next year, and I'll be bold and say I think dobber will have him at at least 55 when the guide comes out.

I am going to be a bit conservative in my predictions for Scheifele (because I own him and don't want to jinx him), but I see him netting 55 points this year, and in two or three seasons from now being a 70 point guy.

For the record- 55 sounds reasonable and id still consider it a great step in his development. Read some pretty wild predictions about him here earlier in the off-season though.

I was thinking more around the 50pts mark next year, but more is always better!

If you look at Scheifele's stats from Nov. 23rd going forward....he could be a 60 point player next season if he could play a full slate. I was one of many who thought he needed a full season in the AHL before breaking into the NHL and the first couple of months last year appeared to validate that opinion. Scheifele proved he could handle that 2nd line gig last year as a rookie.

The kid has a great work ethic and is eager to learn and improve his game, I can see 65 pts in a few years.

I could definitely see atleast 50 points this year, this kid is special.. I have watched him very closely at the games I have been too.. He is determined to be better and better each game and each shift.. And it also helps when the coach loves you and trusts you.. He should be reunited with Kane and Wheeler this season, which will be a great 2nd line..

Long term, he will be the Jets #1 guy up the middle and I can see him being a solid 70 point guy..
