    Default Yakupov for Brown

H2H 14 team limited keeper (keep 10), going into our third year
G A +/- PIM STP HITS SOG BLK are the skater categories
    12F, 6D, 2G, 3BN

My team looks like this (relevant players only):
F: Malkin, Ovechkin, Spezza, Ryan, Yakupov, Okposo, Nichushkin, Little, Shaw
    D: Subban, OEL, Carlson, J.Johnson
    G: Price, Fleury

Thoughts on the trade?? Brown brings more hits, shots, +/- and maybe pims. yak more points, stp and obviously the age difference. I think Brown and Yak are both in 'sell low' territory based on last season.

    Other notes:
    - I finished 2nd in each of the first two years
    - Bold players are definite keeps - I'm on the fence for the last two keeper spots (feel free to jump in on this too!)
    - We are likely expanding to 16 teams after next year so may only be able to protect 7-8 for an expansion

Ahh, gotcha. Phew, had me scared for a second there. I was having a brain fart trying to figure out what Brown and couldn't think of any others. Totally forgot about Dustin.

I hate giving up on offensive players because thinks like hits and PIMs should be easier to find than potential high end scorers.

I don't hate the offer, but I would probably still keep Yakupov.

Side question, is Yakupov even going to be a keeper for you and if you make the trade, does Brown?

If Yakupov and Okposo are your final 2 keepers I would probably keep them.
You should be able to replace those stats like AXE said!

That's a tough one. Honestly I might actually keep Nichuskin and Okposo over either of the other two. Is it daily or weekly starts? Going to 16 teams is going to make goalies crazy valuable, especially if it's daily starts. I'd look to trade Yak + for another starting goalie or maybe an upgrade on Fleury before that happens.

I was a big fan of Brown and I'm usually all for buying low, but his season last year scared me. If you can get cheaper, I'd tell you to go for it. But I'm not sure I'd recommend giving up Yakupov for him.

I say keep Yakupov and take Yak and Okposo as your final 2 keepers. Brown's last season scared me and at 29 he may be starting to slowdown just a hair, further his peripherals are easier to replace than Yak's potential.

Also, with a chance you'll drop to 8 keepers Yak is all the more valuable. Brown is what he is, a borderline at keep 10 and almost certainly not a keeper in a keep 8 with your lineup. We all know Yak's potential, if he does have a breakout this season then he has a legitimate shot of cracking your top-8.

Yea Im on the fence too- im not totally sure D. Brown is a buy low right now. I want to say he is- but something tells me hes settling into more of a depth role- in a defensive system to boot. His work ethic and physical style means he'll likely be very useful in that role too. They have basically brought in enough scoring to flesh out their top two lines at this point and I think guys like Richards/Brown are re-inventing their game to stay relevant. i could be wrong- but thats my gut feeling.

I like Yak as a keeper. In my opinion you'll know early if hes gonna pop this year. Hes gotta come out of the gate hungry and despite all this L3 talk you know Oil brass wants him to lockdown a scoring role.

Lastly- +++ to JimmyMacs suggestion to keep Nuke. Hes a keeper even over Yak imho- bold that sht up yo!

Thanks all - kind of goes with how i'm feeling about the deal too. just not quite enough for yak.

its between yak/nic/okposo for my final 2 keeper spots. if i traded for brown then i'd keep him. Okposo is a sell high guy for me right now - going to look at trying to move him + 2 of JJ/Carlson/Yak/Nic/Ryan for a big upgrade. there are some really weak teams in the league that would keep all 3.

it is a daily start league, can only keep 2 goalies though. this is the year i start shopping fleury, but need to do it mid season.

I'd keep Nichush/Okposo if it was me. Then look to move Yak for a pick or something. I see Nichushkin producing at a very similar level next year and due to his size, teammates, and how he looked this past year I'd take him. Also, Okposo should definitely be a keeper. On JTs wing he will be a constant 75pt threat I feel. The next Kunitz.

I feel like that's been the party line on Okposo for 3 years now...I think last year could be the exception and not the rule

Three years ago Tavares was a 19 year old with 67 points. Fast forward to now. He looks to be the next 100pt player and was on a 92pt pace last year. No one doubts Tavares ability and with Okposo as his main linemate, who will get the assists to his goals and vice versa? Okposo was at an 80pt pace and that was without JT following the Olympic break. He is a talented player on his own, had a high pedigree (7th overall), and is still young at 26. He is a 75pt threat with JT no matter which way you spin it.
