They sure are a tenacious bunch and "arguably" the best team.

I've learned to hate Mike Moustakas as he appears to be a big whiney baby. Other than that, congrats to the Royals. They never gave up on any game I watched.

After watching the first part of the game yesterday (stopped watching at 9 for the walking dead), they showed how many errors the opposing teams had for KCR. I couldn’t believe it actually. They capitalized on the errors and scored almost every one I think.

Call it luck or a good team capitalizing on mistakes, but man…other teams almost gave them runs every big game.

Mark Shapiro has named assistant GM Tony LaCava as interim GM and stated that John Gibbons will be back as manager next season. Pretty surprised he made the decision on Gibbons so quickly to be honest:

I think he pretty much had to keep Gibby just to show some sort of goodwill towards the fans. Personally, I am not a Gibby fan but a lot of people are.

Also, Jays exercise the options of: Bautista($14m), EE ($10m) and Dickey($12m). No surprises there really, I know some will complain about Dickey but he was certainly above average this season and outside one disastrous start in the post-season can be an excellent #3 or suitable #2 in the rotation eating up lots of innings.

With Stroman being the only SP on the books prior to this upcoming season, pretty much needed to pick up Dickeys option.

I don’t think it was as quick of a decision as it was reported for Gibbons. In the “Meet the Manager” interviews Sportsnet is doing, it sounds like AA told Shapiro all about his plans days prior to the public hearing his decision. He was also approached in mid-July about the job, maybe a few weeks prior to us hearing about it. So everything happens before it’s made public, so just because it happened like the day Shapiro was hired/inducted or whatever, doesn’t mean it wasn’t thought about and discussed a month ago.

Shapiro figures AA is going. He tells the then Assistant GM he’ll be promoted and asks him about Gibbons. He says he likes him, and Shapiro goes with his decision.

Not that anyone should be surprised but the Jays qualified Marco Estrada today.

    https://mobile.twitter.com/bnicholso...4440613888?p=v

Marco Estrada set career highs with 181 innings & 28 starts this year. He becomes the first starter to get a QO without a 30-start season.

Just a formality, if they don’t do this, and he signs elsewhere, Toronto gets no draft pick compensation.

Also, no one has ever accepted a QO, Estrada may be the first considering he’s only made 10mill in his career, but 1yr is not what he wants.

3-4yr, 12-13mill/yr is my guess now.

That seems to be the number the "experts" are predicting he will get when the free agency window opens this weekend (assuming he signs early on) so that sounds about right.

Does anyone think the Jays would take a run at relief pitcher Darren O'Day considering the "love" between him and Jose Bautista?? LOL!

Thinking Toronto has a chance at Price is just not realistic; he said all the right things but his body language tells me that he doesn't want to be in Toronto. Time to move on from that.
