I think the Jays had a pretty good offseason. They seemed to address all the glaring holes on the roster and for the first time in a while look to have some organizational depth. Most notably in the pitching department and OF. If what I've read about the fathers coming up is true, they're good there also.

For this season, being in the East is a tough task. Both Boston and New York look far too strong for the Jays to be legit division title contenders. But it's not impossible for one of those teams to be hit hard by the injury bug. I expect the Jays to be a good team (84-87 wins) this year and will be a contender for that 2nd wildcard spot.

a DONALDSON TRADE is on my wishlist. And for a ****ing boatload! Anything less will be a disappointment. They should be able to add front end SP prospect, two more grade A prospects & a couple picks out of that deal. If they let him walk for nothing... I don't even want to think about it.

MLB doesn't allow draft picks to be traded.

As a third baseman, Donaldson is the first Jays player at the position who I've really enjoyed watching since Molitor (legitimately my favourite 3rd baseman of all time, and if you ask the man, he'll tell you he's a 2nd baseman whose team needed him to move over). I really want them to re-sign Donaldson, but it just doesn't seem like it's in the cards. The team isn't in a position to commit the dollars he's looking for to a player his age. It sucks, because even on a long-term deal, he'll be fantastic for the first half of it, it's just the back half that'll start to be rough.

If they take anything less than the package you described, they're getting their pockets picked. One of the prospects they'd get back would need to be a middle infielder as well, if only because of the injury history and age of the players they have on the books there next season.

As it's best practice to just take who you think is the better player, but Jays have Bo Bichette and Lourdes Gurriel at SS/2B. And then there's Urena at SS too.

Personally I think the Jays could be in desperate need of pitching in a few yrs if Stroman/Sanchez decide to leave. As Sanchez has Boras as an agent, he's looking to get paid, and Stroman is looking more and more like he's worried about himself. Like he'll play hard for whatever team he's on, but won't care what team that is.

Prolly cause the draft is pretty un-media-hyped. It happens midseason and people who get drafted aren't like Football/NHL players who come in and impact instantly usually. So the whole draft process gets unnoticed/overlooked?

The one move I absolutely hated this offseason was the resigning of Aaron Loup.. I just don't get it.. He gets crushed when he is brought it.. He must have naked pictures of the entire Blue Jays management team.. I don't care if he is a lefty, bring in anyone but him, ANYONE!!

He actually had a good yr last yr for how much he signed for (1.8mill/1yr). https://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2018/...man-aaron-loup

I rather them upgrade obviously at a LHP option, but they go for a ton unless you bring them up yourself (Mayza). He's like a "yeah he'll do" option.

Gibby loves this guy for some reason. It probably doesn't help that management doesn't give Gibby any other left handed options of the 'pen.

Either way, I agree with you Zorro. Loup is terrible.

Let's just hope the "Final Boss", which is Oh's supposed nickname, doesn't have any ill effects to that inflammation that the Texas Rangers found when they gave Oh a physical.. I like the cheap signing nonetheless..

It seems like these middle relievers bounce around teams every year on every team except for the Jays. I'm glad they went out and got some help this year

I personally see the RP hierarchy as:
    Osuna - Closer
    Tepera - Set up
    Loup/Mayza - LH specialist
Hwan Oh - High Leverage. AKA, inning 6-7.
