Last night's game was a disaster lmfao I don't even know where to start.

Barney has been a complete plug this year. I honestly haven't liked a single part of his game all season. And why is the media so horny for Refsnyder? I don't get it.

Bautista's complete lack of range showed in him allowing what should have been a single to stretch into a double early in the game. Then that botched fly ball where Smoak Refsnyder and Bautista all watched a ball drop between them. Then Pillar somehow losing the ball in the lights. Then an attempt to throw out a baserunner ending up in CF. Then two walks with bases loaded.

Donaldson is trying to carry this team but they won't let him.

That has to be one of the worst games of baseball I've seen this team play. Getting blown out is one thing but all of these stupid mistakes are another.

Also i had to take this picture of one of Pillar's at bats where he swings at 3 consecutive pitches to start his at-bat all at pitches nowhere close to the strike zone. Like wtf?

You manage the team Gibby and let the GM deal with what the team needs and what it doesn't need. If they can get back some prospects for him, I say make the deal.

Jon Heyman tweeted shortly after the waiver claim news that a deal was unlikely. If the Jays were to get a package of prospects they like, of course they'll make it. But as an organization, they're BP is overworked and without Estrada, who starts games? Jays need pitchers right now to eat innings and to make sure they don't damage any arms going into next year

I doubt it's going to happen myself, I can see the Jays pulling him back. I don't like it because it seems they are more worried about keeping asses in the seats then they are about trying to build something but it is what it is.

The Jays had their window, they didn't make it. They need to accept that fact and move on.

A healthy sanchez, stroman, Donaldson, and guys having a mediocre/good year (Happ, Smoak, Travis, Tulo) 2018 is still open, albeit small.

The issue is with the Jays when Donaldson does well, the Jays do. So a team is super fragile when you rely on 1 guy

You don't seriously still believe the Jays are playoff contenders, do you?

This yr no way. Next yr depends on the health of NYY and RedSox....and obviously the Jays health. If all teams are healthy Toronto isn't in the playoffs. If NYY and RS aren't and the jays are....never know. But their window is based on other teams health way more than talent.

    That's not a window, that's an opportunity.

Estrada isn't really eating innings at this point anyways. They can re-sign him in the offseason, if someone wants to trade for him a smart organization would get value for him while they can.

I keep hearing how nice all the Blue Jay fans were who descended upon Chicago last weekend. Even heard about a fan asking people sitting nearby if anyone had a peanut allergy before opening a bag a peanuts.

I doubt they were just being nice. I think they were probably just scared.

    Their "window" closed last year.

    Exactly.

What ever happened around the whole Marco Estrada getting claimed story? Did the Jays officially pull him back yet or are they still negotiating? I haven't heard anything about it since the story broke and I cant find much on it since then either.

I understand that he's pitched better lately, but he's had a poor season overall. 3 years in a row of declining numbers and he's 34 now.
Did they learn nothing from bringing back Bautista ?

I guess the inevitable reply will be that they have nobody to replace him, but I think they could find someone in the offseason... for much less than 13mil.
I'm ok with it. It's only one year and $13M. There's no doubt he had a down year and worse case scenario, he is trade bait again at the deadline. We already saw this year that there is interest in him if they wanted to move him. Best case scenario, he bounces back. For some reason, the Jays have never given him much run support when he's on the mound and that alone must be frustrating as hell for him.

Good on him for even re-signing instead of going out on the free market, where he probably would have got more money and term as a free agent. There isn't much loyalty out there anymore.

    Starting Pitching UFA’s:
    Clayton Richard (4.82 ERA)
    Lance Lynn (3.09ERA)
    Yu Darvish (3.96ERA)
    Alex Cobb (3.64ERA)
    Jason Vargas (4.19ERA)
    John Lackey (4.62ERA)
    Hellickson (5.47ERA)
    Arrieta (3.48ERA)

There’s no options on that list that will go to Toronto for 13mill on that list.

    How about their Minors?
    House (4.32ERA)
    Oberholtzer (4.12ERA)
    Grube (4.74ERA)
    Santos (4.07ERA)

    No options there to promote.

    Jays SPs for 2018:
    Stroman
    Sanchez (?)
    Happ
    Biagin(?)
    Estrada

They signed him because 1 they know him, 2 he’s had a down yr and showed during spurts he can be good, cheapest option : Production likely. 1yr means 0 risk really.

Toronto needs to get a power bat in the OF, either LF or RF I don’t care, and have TF in the opposite field.
    OF FA:
Granderson, CarGo, JD Martinez, Bruce, Werth, Melky
Or go speedy if they want to turn to small ball:
Dyson (I think is), Revere, Rajai, Auston Jackson, Cain

    RPs FA:
Wade, Davis, Kintzler, Oh, Reed, Watson, Rodney (no no no), Clippard, McGee, Shaw, Joe Smith.

If they can roll out a Tepera, Osuna, FA RP, Leone, and Loup (LH Specialist) that’s a good bullpen.

All depends on if they can keep Donaldson. Say what you say about a down yr for him, but he’s crushing it lately and the world is a “what have you done for me lately” and he’ll cash in. If they talk to him and he wants to “play out the yr”, trade him. If he wants to sign, sign him and go for it 1 more time. And remember the 2019 FA class is ridiculous, maybe they can get that tier 2 FA that yr if they need to?

Just don’t trade prospects. No No. Dip into FA if they want to make another push, I don’t care not my money. Just don’t trade youth for it.
