For the league in sig. I don't know what to do with this guy. I have to drop some players to draft and he's one of the candidates. What should I expect from him in the future?

Points only I'd say a 50-55 Pts upside...used to be more than that but I lost faith in this guy...

I'm interested to hear what folks think as well. They added some offensive talent this offseason. I believe he will have some fairly good linemates. Still... I am very tempted to drop him and use a 3rd round pick to replace him. I believe that I could get a Ho Sang type of guy that late in our draft.

I've given up on Berglund - Probably my least favourite player in fantasy hockey.

30-40 points is realistic now - he will line up with Steve Ott and deserve it.

I'm thinking this is overly harsh. He was sixth in TOI/G for StL forwards three years running. Coaching and management like him and appreciate what he brings to the table. Unfortunately, his value in the NHL is greater than it is in fantasy hockey. I think he will still get top six minutes, but his fantasy value will be limited again. I'm thinking of letting him go and taking a chance on another player.

Probably a winger on the 3rd line. 40 pts is reasonable, I wouldn't hold my breath for over 50 unless there's a slew of injuries and he starts getting top 6 minutes.

And it will take a SLEW of injuries to make that happen.

All the chances in the world, and broke the heart of every GM who ever drafted him.

He's had top 6 minutes for the last three years..... I dont think its reasonable to expect a huge spike in points.

Ugh..... This happened to me with Okposo. I was sick of waiting. He could never secure a spot with JT.. It was always someone else... and then I drop him finally, after 5 years of holding on... and bang. Explosion.

That said, I think I dropped the wrong guy last year (to say the least!! ugh.....) and Berglund was always the one to drop. I just don't see it. Size? Check. Speed? Check. Hockey smarts and positioning...? No check (looks lost way too often). Required puck skills to be elite? No check. Drop? Check.

I think he will be morphed into a large defensive centre. Size and mobility to be effective in that role.

So then what happened with Berglund? Twice in his first three years in the league he hovered around 50 points. Nov 2011 Hitchcock joins the team and suddenly Berglund is not even a 40 point player? Something about that doesn't add up. Obviously, as long as he's with the Blues (and Hitchcock) he's going to struggle to put up points, but if he ever gets moved I'd be pretty excited about targeting him again.

Look at David Perron. Twice a close to 50 point player, then Hitch comes along and he struggles (granted he had some injuries as well) to put up those points. He gets out of there and then he hits career highs on another team.

Part of the problem is the Blue's have too much depth and employ a scoring by committee system. The other part is Berglund never did cross the threshold to breakout. Maybe part of the problem is he's not using his size properly or not aggressive enough. In international play, guys like Berglund and Backlund play like demons, in the NHL not so much.
