It appears the Boston Bruins and defenseman Matt Bartkowski will not be going to arbitration after all.

Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night In Canada reported Monday that Bartkowski and the Bruins avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract worth $1.25 million.

Bartkowski, 26, had 18 assists in 64 games for the Bruins last season and one assist in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games. The Pittsburgh native has 20 assists in 84 career games.

Bartkowski was selected by the Florida Panthers in the seventh round (No. 190) of the 2008 NHL Draft.

Boston still has to re-sign entry level free agents Torey Krug and Reilly Smith, as well as restricted free agents Jordan Caron and Matt Fraser.

I'm amazed with the Bruins 5/6/7 defensemen.
It seems like they've been plugging guys in there for years without any hitch.

he probably doesnt offer much for fantasy owners, but if you are in need of a cheap roster player, he won't hurt you either.

    I just hope he doesn't eat any of Kevan Miller's value/ ice-time.
Miller was my big value-grab in our multi-cat league last year. Great periphs.

I think Miller will be safe on the 3rd pairing (cheaper than McQuiad with similar skills). McQuiad is as good as gone IMO.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

So if Bartkowski gets 1.25 that means Krug gets... what? 2.5-3 per?

Actually they avoided arbitration by signing this deal.

He's a decent option in cap leagues that count hits and blocked shots. I would have probably kept him if I didn't need to make space for Lindholm.
