you beat me to the punch, I was just about to post the two compared back to back to illustrate but you can't underestimate the value of the proven starter doing well year after year. How many times have we seen flash in the pan goalies who come in for one year, light it up, and then fade away as a better contender moves up to steal their spot?

Price >> Bishop for this very reason

Toews v. Spezza is semi-even I think, especially with Spezza on the Stars but I'd much rather own Toews in a keeper

Very fair deal IMO. I'm split right down the middle on this one. MTL will not regress as some have said. But if franchise goalies are hard to come by in your league, this is a great opportunity to land one in CP. I'd hate to lose JT though. VERY tough decision. Could you offer up Bernier + another tier II forward + Toews? Try and keep Bishop.....so tough, sorry not much help here.

More so because of the team he plays on and playing behind Chara/Bergeron. Talent wise, they are pretty darn even.

The problem is that he's weak at C so Spezza is his best option. I could take Hudler or Bozak but that would be even worse for me.
He has Purcell too, I thought about maybe asking for him but I feel like I'm solid on RW and I felt like Spezza for FOW would help offset the loss of Toews better.

Could you offer up Bernier + another tier II forward + Toews? Try and keep Bishop.....so tough, sorry not much help here.

I tried Bernier when we first started talking but understandbaly he prefers the TB starter over the Toronto one
I also really like Bernier's upside, I think I can get more from him in a couple years than I can today

I guess it comes down to who do you love more and want as a keeper...CP or JT.
Don't feel you have to do the deal if you really like JT.
Bishop will provide very solid numbers this season and was right on-par with Price in our league last year.
Spezza's health has always been an issue I'd consider before trading for him.
Good luck. But yeah, and Price/Bishop one-two would be awesome. Keep working that GM. lol

second of all you are talking about comparing an 18 year old MacKinnon to a couple of 26 year old players vs comparing a 27 year old Bishop to a 26 year old Price

Price has won 30+ games twice, has had a .920%+ 3 out of 7 years and has never had a 2.20-2.29 GAA. If you're the best in the world you should be able to have way better stats. GTFO Carey price is overrated.

Bishop battled in the St. Louis system, put up decent numbers in his taste with Ottawa. Never had a shot until TB. I can compare 18 to 26 because it's way easier for a #1 pick to get a shot than a goalie. Overrated biggie.

i never once said that Price is the best in the world, so find another strawman to go after

i agree that Price is overrated but he is still a top 5 goalie in the league and he is still a much safer choice than Bishop is and very likely a better choice than Bishop is

oh and that .920 only 3 out of 7 times in his career, Rinne has only had it 2 times and has always been called elite, Miller only 1 time and he has been called elite, Quick only 1 time

there are only 2 goalies who have started 30 games and had a .920 sv% in more than 3 seasons during Price's career, Lundqvist has done it 5 times, Thomas 4 times and everyone else 3 or fewer just like Price

Actually Tuukka 4 and Bob will do it for a 3rd time this year. Also bishop did it 2x in Ottawa as a backup. Bishop is the safer pick.

I think you are buying high on Spezza here with the hype of his trade to the Stars. It might work out and the deal is a winner for you, but I couldn't rationalize trading a perennial all star center for a bandaid boy when the goaltending is not likely to make much of a difference either way. Yeah I get that Price has been around and solid for a long time, but I have owned him on a very good H2H team and never won it with him. I don't do this deal - he needs to come with something better than Spezza because I don't see the gap between Price and Bishop.

Toews side for me.
In H2H, I'm just more fond of high quality skaters... more dependable week-to-week cats.
Especially with a high quantity cat like FOW, really like Toews, in H2H, you've got to lock down categories.
Toews is a beast every year in FOW & +/-.
I wouldn't give those up.
