Giroux for Hall+
Traded Giroux for Taylor Hall + Sebastian Collberg. Had a few reasons for moving Giroux... we start 4 C, 4 LW, 4 RW... Giroux lost his RW eligibility this offseason leaving me with 7 C and 6 RW but only 4 LW. So I wanted to balance out my forwards; also, Hall is 4 years younger and is already exceeding a point per game. I also had a few open spots on my farm and felt Collberg would be a fair addition. How do you guys think I did on the return I got?

15 man farm expanding to 20 (<50 GP)

I wouldn't have done it, but I'm guessing you had to make a move and so you had to give a little. But I think Collberg is a long way off and Hall is injury prone. But just 6 games missed the last two years so maybe Hall is coming around now and if so then got yourself a pretty good Giroux replacement

G is beast in that format. I have Giroux and Hall and way more rather have G. Sometimes you have to make trades like that.

The trade is fine. There is a thread on here about giroux vs hall in multi cat, and voters gave giroux the slight edge. But they are dang close, and the LW eligibility in Hall bumps him up. I almost view hall and giroux as dead even, so I have no problems with it.

Note on the UTIL slot... in many leagues, once the UTIL comes into play, there is no longer a bonus for forward "wing" eligibility.
I would've found a way to keep Giroux.
I like Taylor Hall, but I don't see him having a single category (maybe SOG... maybe) on G.
And Giroux is a FOW beast, which is a category you'd have locked up by keeping him.
Slight thumbs down, but Hall is still a top 3 LW in the NHL... so that's at least OK.

Really like this deal for you based on your positional needs. I think it's a little pre-mature to label Hall as injury prone considering the circumstances...but not getting Into a pissing match about that. Otherwise we'd need to enter into evidence Giroux's obvious questionable judgement and decision making skills)
I think it was a prudent move for what you needed now...and in 3 years time when Hall is proving to be more valuable than Giroux...you'll be laughing!

I liken this to using a fairway wood to reach the green. You hit it nice but fell just short but still chipped onto the green. Point is, you got on the green. Meaning, you moved G for Hall which is fine and addressed your roster balance as you set out to do and that's fine too. I think the part where you came up short of the green is with the prospect, I would of maybe tried to grab yourself a different prospect. Otherwise it's a fine deal and no harm done to your team.
