I just don't see it happening in Tampa unless he just absolutely goes off this year. But I still believe in his talent, I think he was the first 16 year old to score 30 goals in the WHL since Patrick Marleau in like 1995. He's a good player, but for whatever reason he's been passed by pretty much everyone in Tampa.

This year might be the best time to buy low on Connolly. Or he might never play in the NHL.

What I had expected here was that he would agree to a two-year deal, with the second year being one-way. I'm surprised that didn't happen. It's only July, so he could have waited it out

Could this be a waiting game for Tampa so to speak? They want to keep his pay down just to help out when stamkos, Killorn, Ohlund, JT Brown, Kucherov contract all finish?

Connolly was pretty much trapped here by the rising Tampa Bay club's talent.
A "take what I can get" contract for him...

This guy needs a fresh start more than anybody. A move would make him instantly more interesting in fantasy.

I have no idea if he's a center or winger nowadays, but if he's a center, then perhaps Nashville would be interested?

hmm...only a one-year deal? Maybe that says something about Tampa's confidence in his ability to rise up to lofty expectations? He's got to prove himself this year, obviously.

I expect him to get a long look in the 3rd line this year. He'll compete for the spot with Panik and Kucherov but he will get his chance.

Don't get how he hasn't asked for a trade yet, he's gotten the shaft by TB ever since being drafted. Definitely needs a change of scenery.
