Need a little help with this one

Hey guys I would appreciate a little help on this offer I have.

It's for the team in my signature below. I came 2nd last year (Basically due to Stamkos being out most of the year amongst other injuries), so I'm looking to improve the team again and go that extra step next year.

I have an offer on the table that would have me send over Allen, Knight and Granlund (Cgy) and receive J. Johnson, Berra and pick 30ish next season (draft prospects and UFA's)

Knight and the pick are basically a wash in my book and while Berra isn't fantastic, we have to carry two goalies and I have Varly, so it's not a bad thing having the tandem. I think defence is my weakest area on the squad so Johnson would help that, I guess I just worry about giving up Allen/Granlund. I can be really bad at over valuing prospects and what not.

So yeah, in a nut, should I just make the move here?

I don't see Markus Granlund becoming anything special at the NHL level, he could become a star in the KHL. But Berra is also pretty much useless in my books. So the deal is basically Allen for Jack Johnson. If Allen becomes a starting goalie, his value is much higher than that, so the question really is: do you believe Allen will become a starting goalie or not?

I like the deal for you, in a deep league like the one you are in at getting established talent (JJ is the only one in that deal who fits the bill IMO) is typically the strategy I like to use. The fact that you are doing it without giving up any A-List prospects is a win in my books.

I don't like this deal, Jake Allen is to the Lou what Gibson is to Anaheim without the hoopla.

Yeah I am with Bazz. I don't think you have to do a damn thing to win this league this season. I see you getting more out of Hedman, Galchenyuk, Goligoski and Irwin this season and of course, Stamkos. Kinda like if it ain't broke don't fix it. Allen has far too much potential to deal him off for JJ.

I view Allen as the player with the highest ceiling and as you noted yourself, you'd like another goalie.
Elliott is a bridge solution. The two should tandem this year and Elliott may see more starts but I would guess its Allen's job after that...STL must have the faith as well since they passed on bringing Miller back.

In this scenario I'd keep what you have.

If you have to carry two goalies, Allen will give you way better starts than Berra ever could and I don't even know how long Berra will stick in COL as he's not a very good tender at all. Plus in a 30 team league, you could be on the verge of having two starters on two of the best teams in the West. Thats a huge bonus.

I understand the want for Johnson, but I wouldn't scramble and make this move. I think you'll end up regretting it if you do.

Stand pat, dude. Jake Allen is an A-list prospect, and you shouldn't move him just to add JJ.

Starting goalies are probably at a premium in such a deep league, and Berra is not one. Jake Allen will be soon, if not this year, so hold fast and don't make this trade.
