    Default Offers on Spezza

Have been offered my choice of James Neal or Eric Staal for my Spezza. Multicat h2h league, includes FOs, SOG, ht, pim, blk, ppp.

I'm tempted to take Staal but I also like the potential of Spezza on that Dallas pp...likely just going to hold onto Spezza but we'll see if he sweetens the offer.

For sure. He is trying to give you one of two guys who are projected to have decline years (for different reasons, but decline nonetheless) for a guy who, at the very least, should score as well as he did last year. BTW, Spezza had 66 points in 75 games.

    Wait for a sweeter deal!

Staal / Spezza more or less are a wash so keeping Spezza is fine. That does not mean to get sour on Staal. The coaching change in Carolina could give a change to their system and Staal could very well rebound this year. I do think Spezza will flourish nicely in Dallas especially on the PP. Keep in mind Spezza could potentialy be in Dallas just this one year depending on how things work out for him and a contract.

My advice would be to 1) Hold onto Spezza. 2) Trade for Staal if the trade offer gets a sweetener.

I would hold on to Spezza. The guy is a beast in faceoffs, and should be good for about 70 points if he can stay healthy.

I may be in the minority here but I would trade Spezza for Neal (or Staal, but I prefer Neal). I think they will produce similar point totals with Neal getting more sog, hits, and pims. But with the Neal trade his value is pretty low so I would try and get something else thrown in. I think it's a great time to trade Spezza, his value has gone up a lot since the trade but he still has a lot of injury risk and will post similar numbers to when he was in Ottawa.

Definitely keep Spezza. He'll be on an improved PP. On pure talent alone, I would rank Staal slightly ahead, but Spezza has a better situation than Staal - so close whatever gap if any. Besides situation, Spezza has motivation heading into this season. And as already stated, FO monster.

Stay put. I don't love Spezza, and I'm typically skeptical about these kind of 'change of scenery' situations, but the offers you have aren;t good enough. I don't trust Staal, and I won't drink the 'Neal is still a stud' Kool-Aid. If Spezza misses 12 games, you can manage. If not you shouldn't be playing fantasy hockey. You can stream 12 games worth of reasonable production if you're worried about injury risk

Spezza’s value is prolly at the lowest it can be without him being injured. I’d wait to see if spezza’s value raises enough to get a better player, or Staal and a pick. Maybe one of your other players raise enough that you can get Staal and keep spezza as well.

I would agree, keep Spezza until the deal is made sweeter, then take Staal. Neal is a goal scorer, but a complementary player; it remains to be seen what he can do on offensively-challenged Nashville almost by himself. Spezza won't have huge pressure with all the scoring options around him, so his minutes can be kept down, which in turn might stave off the injury risk.

Eric Staal, easily for me. A great, GREAT buy low here.

Yes... the points aren't there... but E.Staal is still a beast in SOG/PIM... and especially FOW.

There actually are not a LOT of CENTERS that put up 200+ SOG per year.
Staal is one of the few.

Although he had only 61pts last year... 49 came even-strength/short-handed.
Staal actually had a dismal PPP year with only 12 PPP.
If Staal would have had a better PPP year, with say 22 PPP (normal for a PP1 talent), he'd have 71pts and we wouldn't be doubting him.

Eric Staal has only had ONE sub-70pt pace season in his last 9 seasons... last year.
He's just too good to pass up.

I agree with this, I would take Staal. Maybe a little bit of a hit in points, but more durable and better all round production in multicat.

The other thing about Spezza is to think at how his points will come.
It is almost a certainty that Benn-Seguin stay together.
So what does that give Spezza at even-strength? Hemsky again? Maybe Nichu as well?
I don't see Spezza's even-strength situation as any better than in OTT.

And DAL's PP has always struggled, maybe this season it stops... but will it be BETTER than Spezza's OTT PPs? Not necessarily.
Just because a player changes locations doesn't mean his point totals will rise.
I actually think Spezza's point totals will decrease in DAL.
They'll be a better team with him... but he won't be a better (fantasy) player.
    After all:
He's C2... not C1. Thus, likely a decrease in offensive starts & overall minutes.
    My 2 cents.
