With the forwards the Stars have been pumping out Chiasson was redundant. Basically got him for free. But I don't agree that Spezza is all that stupid for taking Dallas over Nashville. No state tax in Texas, and he's only making $4 million in actual salary this year so this is big for him financially.

Jason Spezza will venture into unfamiliar territory with a new NHL club as the Ottawa Senators have agreed to a deal with the Dallas Stars, pending a trade call. The Senators will receive Alex Chiasson, Alex Guptill, Nicholas Paul and second round pick in 2015. Ludwig Karlsson is headed to Dallas alongside Spezza.
Wow. What a brutal return!!!! I really thought he'd get slightly more. Kudos to Dallas for getting Spezza for just regular Joe's and not giving up any key players or 1st rounders.
