Calgary, for making the right pick when Bennett fell into their lap and not doing anything silly (Fleury, Ritchie).

Islanders, for finding two dynamic wingers for their two dynamic centres.

St. Louis, for getting a great blend of skill and work ethic, who should fit nicely into one of their three second lines.

    Biggest surprise this year?

I think Kasperi Kapanen going so late to the Penguins. I thought he would go top 15 at worst.

    Any other big surprises?

This day could have used some more trades. Sure there were the Kesler and Neal blockbuster deals but would have been fun to see more action.

It was good to see that the Flames didn't over think their pick.......

At first, I wasn't sure about the Habs choice of Nikita Scherbak. I wasn't familiar with him (and wanted the Habs to take Goldobin), but he won me over with his interview on TSN.

This draft was brutal. No surprises, bad picks who should have been second rounders at best, one trade. On to free agency

Organizationally, for the Flames to get one of the Sams is a huge steal. Bennett only fell to 4 but he fits so much better than Draisatl, Dal Colle, or Nylander.
