Yup bantam and midget. I'm also going to check out the first couple of days of Canada's U17 camp. I'll list some guys who stood out afterwards.

Sorry this post is a bit late but I've been on vacation for a while.

I only caught the first couple of practice days but I jotted down a couple notes on players who impressed me.

I think Michael McLeod may have the highest potential out of any player at the camp. He hasn't quite put it all together and he was inconsistent even within practices but he has a combination of size, skill, and speed that no one else really has.

I thought Clague was alone as the top defenceman over the first couple of days however Fabbro and Mete looked strong as well. You can see the skill and impressive skating ability of Day but he didn't really seem as engaged or focused as others. The same goes for Chychrun. That being said it's only practice scenario and I wouldn't throw up red flags given their body of work.

Benson and Patrick seemed to be the most polished prospects there, especially impressive in Patrick's case. Benson really took hold of the drills and showed great execution.

Malenstyn was strong and I thought he even overshadowed Benson a bit in the first day. He had Cairns searching for his jockstrap on one deke.

Steel may not have the flash or physical tools of some of the other guys but his execution was by far the best. He's the only prospect who I can't recall making a single mistake. No fanned shots, no flubbed passes, no misses when receiving passes, it was impressive.

Lastly some other guys who stood out positively for various reasons were Candella, De Wit, Laberge, Raddysh, Davidson, Ang, Kryski, Katchouk, Quenneville, McKinstry, Paquette, Dube, Katerinakis, Anderson, Mascherin, Brown, Lauzon, Pu, Pezzetta, Steenbergen and Howden

Great stuff thanks....I drafted Benson last year as we have a deep minor system. I am just trying measure his value vs say a 2014 draftee or 2015. He has garnered some interest in my league. Is he a player that I should keep?
