    Default Kesler's return

Seems like Kesler would cost at least Saad or Tereveinen to the Hawks:

    Per Mark Lazerus:

"Regarding Kesler, I hear the Canucks want Saad or Teravainen in any package. I can't imagine any possibility the #Blackhawks offer either." Retwitted by Scott Cullen from TSN

I wouldn't be happy with that as a Hawks fan. Are Saad or Teravainen absolute must keeps? No. But would I want to move them for Kesler? No. He's 30, his style of play is causing him to break down, and a player like him is only going to continue to deteriorate, he won't magically re-find his 70 point game.

As much as I can't stand Kesler, the thought of him on the Hawks is awesome. But try and get the deal done with Leddy instead of Saad or Teravainen.

The price for Kesler SHOULD be TT or Saad.

Canucks really aren't in the drivers seat on this one if Kesler has asked to be traded and narrowed his list down to 2 destinations. Find it hard to believe they get Saad or TT in a deal.

They won't trade him if they don't get good value. They obviously won't get full, but CHI would be crazy not to trade teravainen in a package for Kesler, IMO. Teravainen look special but he's a few years away.... Kes makes this team much better immediately.

How long before Kesler has a season where he only plays 15 games? I expect it's coming soon. He's breaking down, a lot like Mike Richards is breaking down. Small power forwards can be great players, but they don't last long.

I just don't like the Hawks giving up their top prospects for a diminishing star. If you're gonna move one of them, move them for someone you can count on, like Thornton (for example).

This is the EXACT reason, and only thing that makes it palatable to move Kesler. His value is still high and he is extremely valuable when he plays, but he misses too many games.

Of the two, TT would be the one to go. Center for center is more ideal. Besides that, he's what, 170lbs? Yeah, I know he has upside, but those are the two things not in his favor as opposed to Saad.

Since when is Kesler a "Small Power Forward"??

You know Thornton is 4 years older than Kesler is right?
Kesler would have the immediate impact of reducing Toews defensive responsibilities. Thornton not so much.

TT is 5'11" 169 LBS but how much did you change from 19 to 24? Will he get up to 200 lbs probably not but he could easily hit 180-185 which is patty dangles territory. If Kesler is centering Kane and Saad he will probably be in the 60-65 point range which is close to 70.

The Canucks could do nothing, but let's hope they learned what it was like to have a disgruntled Bobby Lou on the team. They should take Bickell.

Agreed. Forget about Saad. There is no way the Hawks trade him for Kesler. It would greatly surprise me to see them move TT for Kesler. Cap-wise picking up Kesler would force the Hawks to move Sharp either this year or next. TT is one the major low-priced pieces expected to contribute over the next few years.

Looking at the salary cap, the only way I want the Hawks to acquire a #2 C is if they move Sharp. Keeping Sharp AND a #2 C means gutting the rest of the team's depth.

I wouldn't lump him in with Richards at this point, but agreed he's going to miss a bunch of games.

According to multiple sources, ESPN is reporting that Chicago and Anaheim are the frontrunners for Ryan Kesler.

However, it's believed that no trade for Kesler is imminent and the Canucks won't move him unless they feel they getting far value in the deal. One source said that the Pittsburgh Penguins remain in the mix as well.

All three of those teams have the pieces to make it work..........I think the Pens will get it done.
