    [A quick turnaround...
    for the mound!]

    mounD

Gotta say mounD, when people want a Pittsburgh lookalike jersey they usually stray away from the mid-90’s robot penguin, so hats off to ya!

With input from mounD this jersey design is based around the city of Pittsburgh. As stated above, the colours and line patterns are a copycat of the mid-90’s Pens teams. The away jersey even mimics the diagonal lettering down the chest. The home jersey dawns a giant “M”, since Pittsburgh is a blue collared city that thrives on the steel and coal industries the “M” is made out of steel with a pile…or a mound(see what I did there)… of coal in the foreground.

Overall the mounD logo is a simplistic logo, but very effective representing the Pittsburgh area.

Last but not least the Lamplighters will round out the 5 logos for July.

I look at the work here... then I look at the Buff-a-slug jerseys of yester-year (or the Dallas uterus jerseys)... then back.

Then my mind stops working and I'm convinced I'm some weird matrix like universe of opposites because there's no doubt which ones look like they were done by a pro.

And we have reached the final jersey design for July!

    The Lamplighters

Thought I would include my rundown of ideas and how I chose the final look.

Lamplighters > Instantly thought of a lighthouse > too similar to Islanders shoulder patch from years ago > How about a Genie Lamp > make a genie coming out of lamp with skateblade on lamp > if the team was called Lamprubbers, would work – doesn’t make enough sense > go old school > lamplighter 1600’s > guys lit street lamps etc. > closeup of street lamp > close/sorta boring > How about Paul Revere carrying a lantern, with a hockey stick > no, Cannon is Canadian > keep it simple > focus just on a lantern > add in Hockey goal light to make it hockey related> Bingo

So that was the thought process, I did draw up some of the early ideas, which helped me get to the end result.

Now the description. I really wanted to do something with the red goal light, since it is a rarely used hockey reference – compared to the main ones like a stick or skates.

The main logo is a lantern with the hockey goal light taking the place of the flame. Lamplighters of course means scoring goals in hockey, so I made that goallight shine to represent a goal being scored. Cannon mentioned in his description he would like his league name to be included, so I subtly put it engraved on the lamp.

The secondary logo/wordsmith is the Lamplighters text. It’s pretty standard with a slight adjustment to the “S” at the end, in which I shaped it as a flame to represent a lighter.

The colours are red of course.

Great name for a fantasy team! There’s nothing better than a name with multiple meanings, especially from a design perspective. Enjoyed doing this one, I do expect mixed reviews however, sooooo many possibilities to take this in other directions, but I wanted to keep it unique – and I haven’t seen a lantern as a team logo before.

    Awesome! Thanks!

As I mentioned before, I was interested to see which direction you would take. I kind of thought you would go the 1600s lamplighter route but that's almost too obvious and as you said - boring.

I like the end result very clean and simple, exactly what I wanted. I really like the font, the flame on the "s" is a nice touch. I'm also pretty happy with how you worked the league acronym into the logo.

    Thanks again!
