    Default Underperforming Forwards (Great Buy-Lows)

As the 'off-season' is upon us, I've found in the past this is the best time to take advantage of other fantasy GMs that are no longer invested in their respected teams.

Who are some players that have struggled this past season (not due to injuries) that proactive GMs can focus on to help build their team in the future:
    Top-Tier Players (65+ point range):
    Forwards
    RNH
    Nail Yakupov
    Eric Staal
    Zetterberg
    Sedins
    Rick Nash
    Alex Semin
    Defence
    Kris Letang
    Goalies
    Pekka Rinne

    Middle-Tier Players (50 to 65 point range):
    Forwards
    Loui Eriksson
    Evander Kane
    N. Kadri
    Bobby Ryan
    Radim Vrbata
    Teddy Purcell
    Mike Ribiero
    Ryan Kesler
    Tomas Fleischmann
    Joffrey Lupul
    Alex Burrows
    M. Frolik
    Defence
    T. Enstrom
    Goalies
    Holtby

On the Verge Players (players that are on the verge of breaking out for the first time):
    Forwards
    Huberdeau
    Barkov
    Toffoli
    Neidereiter
    C. Wilson
    Jenner
    Soderberg
    Tatar
    Bjugstad
    Maroon
    Pirri

My vote goes to Staal RNH and Kesler.

Not sure why Vrbata is there and why Purcell is in the top tier.

Added a few guys here I think are good buy lows. Some due to injury, some just bounce back candidates.

    Eriksson
    Semin
    Zetterberg
    Barkov
    Huberdeau
    Ryan
    E Kane
    Letang
    Rinne

It really does depend on what you're paying. If, for example, you acquire Letang but it costs you the price of a top-tier dman then you didn't really buy low and you end up assuming all of the risk. The point is to grab them for the price of a lower tier than what they really are. Among the OP's list, I don't see many being actual buy-low candidates. (ie the cost will be too high in the eyes of the other GM most likely)

These could all be great buys, and could be worth looking into... But each league is different, don't reach on any of them (except maybe Kane)

Even with Kane's struggles, his value is still through the roof in my multi-cat league, and I'd still have to overpay to get him. For anyone in a league with a frustrated or impatient Kane owner, now is definitely the time to try and swoop in as it could be the last buy-low window on him.

In my keeper league the team that won this year recently traded Getzlaf and Marleau for Stamkos. Talk about selling high and buying low.

Nice. Tell him bravo from me.

In the "On the Verge" buy-low category in my humble opinion (despite being a suffering owner): Colin Wilson.

He could be had for a song from most owners, I would think, after a very disappointing season in 2013-14. His owners were hopeful going into last season after Wilson put up 19 points in 25 games in 2012-13 before going down to injury. He recovered quicker than expected from the surgery and didn't miss any games when he was expected to miss the first month of the season. But then he stunk up the joint and put up 33 points.

Don't look now, but his nemesis Trotz is gone and Laviolette is in. Nashville is apparently going with a more offensive style that will be conducive to Wilson breaking out finally. At the junior and college level he was a big scorer but I think some fantasy GMs may be forgetting this as we tend to have short memories.

He's the kind of guy that you could acquire for very little this summer and could give you a big reward by increasing his value significantly this coming season. He's only 24 and some guys just take longer than others. Perhaps he's one of them. Whether you should do it depends on the cost and whether you have room on your roster to carry someone like him.
