Wow, has the buyout window closed. Expected to see at least one of these guys put on waivers for an eventual buyout by now.

Thanks for clarifying, make sense they would give a window so teams could try and make trades. For some reason I thought it was a two name window.

    Any injury news on Mike?
Six more years is a lot of him. I know he brings a lot of intangibles but if he's already declining I'm not sure any other team would take that contract.
Really interested to see how this plays out.

That's what I'm thinking. Even if he is injured its not like he was that great last season. He's clearly declining. It's not necessarily that his cap hit is bad (although it isn't good either) but I can't see him being worth that money 3 years from now let alone 6. Maybe I'm just wishing for them to buy him out so I don't have to spend all that money doing it in my salary cap league but I still think that LA should do it now while they still can.

In the event that Richards is/was injured, I know in the past you weren't allowed to buy out an injured player... Does that rule remain in tact when talking about compliance buy outs as well, or was that only the rule for regular buyouts?

Yup, no buy-outs of injured players period.

Havlat, for example, was a prime candidate last summer but he was injured and the window passed, this time though he is as good as gone.

Why can teams not buy out injured players? Seems kinda crappy if the Kings were to just get stuck with Richards' contract because he has a sprained knee or something. This is the last chance for them to get out from under that contract using a compliance.

So if the Rangers won the Cup, would have this been reversed.

Mike bought out and Brad stays?

My thought is if the Kings lost and Rangers won, both would have been bought out.

Could be true, and I agree that Brad was going to be bought out no matter what.
