While he didn't make any offers, he did say he would have liked to trade down without Ekblad available.

It would be a very Flames move...

For fantasy hockey I'd love it if Bennett fell to 5 and got drafted by the Isles. Would be the best own playing with Tavares.

Agreed that Fleury makes no sense at 4th. The Flames would trade down if that is there target.

Brian Burke has talked in length about the 4th pick. Names he's mentioned include Bennett, Reinhart, Draisaitl, Dal Colle, Ekblad and Ritchie. He's never mentioned Fleury.

I seriously doubt the Flames pass on a higher end prospect just because they'd like a dman. Team needs very rarely trump higher end player

If we allow trades, there will likely be many more trades than there would be in real life.
Also, you know that things don't always happen logically in the NHL, so a breakup of the "set" top five shouldn't be wholly unexpected.

I'm not saying Brad made a great pick, but never take a GM at face value when he is talking ahead of FA/Draft/trade deadline.

IF bennett somehow makes it to the isles, does he become the automatic #1 pick in all fantasy drafts?

There is absolutely no reason to be rude. None whatsoever. It's a mock draft.

    Yeah true.

And yes the top 5 always has some differences than consensus, but that doesn't make an argument for why a mock has someone high. It would be nice to see why said player was taking. And putting up a discussion thread and having a questionable pick is inevitably going to lead to people responding in kind

I think Brad is at work right now, but he did say they were overbalanced in terms of F/D prospect balance. I'm still waiting on a response from him as he is up next with the NYI pick.

I've been emailing you THH... Maybe we have an outdated address. I'll PM you.

I love that a forum's mock draft can stir up such intense emotions and sentiment. I am guessing you all really love one another. LOL. Keep the updates coming.

We are back on track. He took Bennett, and Dal Colle is a tier above the other players available to the Canucks. An easier pick than I thought it was going to be.

Oilers still in tears over Ekblad going #1. Draisatl is little (but also large) consolation.

Hello all, Brad Wilson here.. wow... wanna hear something funny Austin... I was actually thinking of taking Dal Colle over Bennett... imagine the thread explosion had that happened hehe.

First - On Flames and Fleury.... Yes I probably should have taken Bennett but I would only have done that in the event I could make a trade. The Flames have way too many top six prospects in the system to ignore the lack of defense prospects. Not too far down the line the Flames are going to need to add at LEAST one top four if not top two defensemen. I'd rather just go straight for what they really need and picking up Hadyn+ for the 4th pick seems like a success to me. So yes.... as you all bellowed... I would expect the Flames to trade down.

Second - On Isles and Bennett.. He shouldnt reach the Isles which almost made me take Dal Colle but close enough.. Easy pick.. Isles desperately need high end left wing help. While Lee could fill the role Im looking at him more as a #2.. Bennett needs to bulk up but what 17-yr-old doesn't. Imagine a Bennett-Tavares-Strome power play.... nuff said.

Sorry my credibility is shot now... damn you and your mock drafts Austin... I'm going to need 10 yrs of therapy now for the tongue lashing I took. Keyboard warriors always upset me the most. And to think I also lost my mancard today for drinking Bud with Lime in it oh my..
