Wasn't it off the back of a strong play off and sabres new owners trying to make a splash... Note on how trying to make a statement to the fans when top end free agents don't find you an attractive option back fires...

i don't believe they would get value in a trade

between limited clauses and limited cap space etc etc

teams not competing don't need the guy nor do teams that are competing

Would think the following teams would take him:

    Edmonton
    Vancouver
    Toronto
    Ottawa
    Carolina
    Nashville
    Dallas
    Winnipeg
    NJ
    NYI

At least in a trade he gets you an asset while saving the team money and freeing up cap space. An amnesty buyout nets the team nothing but cap space.

how many of those teams are on his list do you think

how many of those teams have cap problems of their own, after all trading one shit contract for another makes no sense for the Rangers

and for the teams that have no chance at realistically competing why are you going to trade for a guy who will do nothing more than **** up your draft position

it isn't like this guy carried the Blue Jackets to the playoffs year after year or anything

he has already proved he isn't the missing piece for a team

Most of those teams could make the cap hit work. I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying in regards to what he brings, but a lot of those teams would trade for him IMO - especially if the price was cheap.

sure if the price was cheap

i was arguing about getting value for him, i was not arguing they couldn't sell him cheap

i am sure someone would take a chance on him cheap but getting value for him, there is only one GM in the league dumb enough to do that and we can't trade with ourselves

Yea it will probably be Leino or Havlat first.
May be a good year to be bought out with a weak free agent class.
Havlat back to ottawa and Leino back to Detroit Homecoming
