Default Lundqvist making a case for the Conn Smythe regardless of cup winner?

No question, if the Rangers happen to come back and win the cup, King Henrik wins the Conn Smythe. What are the chances that he wins the trophy even if the Kings win? The guy is hands down the best player in this series. This thing would have been a sweep without him, and no chance they win this game tonight with a lesser goalie. He is crazy good.

The Kings have 5 awesome candidates alone. There is a 0% chance Lundqvist wins the Conn Smythe unless this series goes to 7.

Awesome candidates, yes. Lundqvist has been series changing, though. I would argue, that there isn't a single player on the Kings roster who has been "More Valuable" to his team this playoffs, than Lundqvist has been to the Rangers. That is who is supposed to win the Conn Smythe. I think Conn Smythe goes to a member of the Stanley Cup winning team more often than it should; there are many people who feel that it is almost mandatory to win the cup to win the Conn Smythe.

If Rangers come back then no doubt Lundqvist gets it. But his numbers werent good enough the rest of the way to warrant it in a losing cause.

Making a case....yes. Only because the Kings don't have a runaway winner (btw sucks they had to vote before OT). But I don't think his earlier rounds were dominant enough to deserve it if they lose. Im a Wings fan and Giguere still haunts my dreams from 2003.

If the Rangers lose tonight, no chance he gets the Conn Smythe. Why give it to someone who won just 13 playoff games?

Really, for a losing goalie to win it, it needs to go game 7. When Giguere won it, his team lost in Game 7. Same with Hextall.

They gave it to Williams but I could have seen it go to him as well. He played all world. Good on him.
