    Default Markström or Eriksson?

Which of those young swedish Vancouver goalies do you prefer fantasy wise? Markström has been touted as the next big thing in net a couple of years ago but he´s struggled mightily over the last 2 years when given an opportunity... Eriksson has impressed in his first season in the AHL. After a rough start he has posted great numbers. If you have to pick one of them - who would it be, and why? i am not looking for production within the next 2-3 years, but for longterm value.

Who will have a better NHL career / Who is the better goalie to have?

    thank you very much

btw - this is for a 14 team dynasty league start 2 goalies each day + own a max of 4 active goalies

I used to be a big Markstrom can but his stock continues to slide and is almost becoming fantasy irrelevant (falling behind lack and Clemmensen will do that!) so I think right now Eriksson will have the better career... The one caveat to that is that Markstrom is still going enough to turn it around

Markstrom. 6'6", highly-touted, perhaps needed a fresh start...and the Canucks think their goalie coach, Rollie Melanson, can help him bigtime.

And don't forget, he's the piece that came back in the Luongo deal. There's plenty of incentive for the Canucks to get this guy figured out.

Markstrom in a heartbeat. Stock hasn't fallen THAT much. He's a Golden Boy and as such will be given all the Golden Boy opportunities to succeed

Exactly ... people are very quick to forget that he was the main piece coming back in the Luongo trade. Markstrom + Matthias <--> Luongo, and Matthias isn't exactly a big asset. The Canucks are going to try to make this situation work, and making that situation work would be giving Markstrom plenty of opportunities to assert himself as the starter. Markstrom for me, definitely.

Yes I would pick Markstrom for the above reason as well, will take time to develop.

Markstrom has got to be your choice here. He played for a terrible Florida team, and should get more support defensively from the Canucks. Remember, it wasn't their defence that kept them out of the playoffs, it was their lack of scoring. In fact, the Canucks allowed 2.63 goals against them per game and that was better than some playoff bound teams.

I have to agree as well, with great regret as I am an Eriksson owner. Any thoughts on chances that the Canucks would trade Eriksson in the next 1-2 years?

I think people are underselling Eriksson. While I definitely see the allure of Markstrom, I think Eriksson is more likely to actually develop into a good NHL goalie.

Markstrom could still become all-world, but he has also been terrible at the NHL level and less than dominant at the AHL level. If he hits, he hits, but I don't think Benning has as much attached to Markstrom as Gillis might have.
