    Default Trouba vs Rielly

Wondering what you guys think about these two, and your preference either way. I think Trouba will be a multi cat stud but I like Rielly's ceiling, even though it might be a little longer until he breaks out. Everyone in my league is pretty high on Trouba so he has a decent bit of value. Depending if the owner picks Rielly as a keeper or not, I might try to pursue him.

Personally I would stick with Trouba. Like you said he will be a multi-cat stud and after watching him play and consistently join the rush this past season I don't think his offensive ceiling is that much lower than Rielly's.

Trouba is better immediately and IMO a better overall package even when Reilly hits his peak.

Rielly for me. I'm still weary about how boho failed on the jets and how pedestrian enstrom has become. Nothing over scientific in it for me...I just like Rielly on the leafs better than Trouba on the jets.

Naturally. Just like BOGO and Schenn(on the other side)! Lol. But clearly the home town kids will win out. Which means...let's hear from all the non leaf/jets fans!

I'm going Rielly. I see Trouba getting stuck in a Drew Doughty situation. And for those that say Trouba will be a future multi-cat stud... how come you aren't saying the same about Rielly?

Give me Trouba. I think he's shown more so far and despite each team (TOR, WPG) being in different situations, I think his being relied upon so early is more a testament to his abilities than it is to the team situation in which each play. I go Trouba and I am very comfortable with that choice.

I'll have to go with Rielly. His offensive instincts are simply on another level, as well as his skating. I mean both are going to be elite dmen in the NHL very soon, but I think Rielly is going to be a superstar offensive defenseman, and he actually does the other stuff like hit and block shots a bit too.

Watching Trouba this past season, he was often the best player on the ice. Incredible maturity and hockey IQ. He has a natural instinct for when to join the rush. He carries the puck into the offensive zone like a seasoned vet. Admittedly, I didn't see much of Reilly, but was that b/c he didn't play much? I didn't notice him on the ice when the Leafs played as much as I noticed Trouba when I watched the Jets play.

This is my view on Trouba. I have a feeling he's a Doughty-type. I know guys are using that comparison as a negative...as in, Trouba will get stuck killing penalties, tough matchups, etc...but I think it means he plays 28minutes in every role on a Jets team that scored a fair bit once Maurice took over. I have a couple/few Jets on keeper teams, so made a point of trying to see as many WPG games as possible.

I also can't speak too much to Rielly. We get lots of Leafs games in Canada..why, every Saturday at 4pm as a matter of fact..but I didn't see enough of him to pass judgement. Other than to say that he didn't stand out and blow me away, which Trouba did more than a few times.

I'm always inclined to take the all-around stud with an offensive side who will play in every role, which is Trouba

Can you get both? I think smart readers should pursue both, at reasonable cost, before they are super-studs. I'm still trying to get Rielly, never letting go of Trouba.

theres a difference btwn pursuing and obtaining, and if it means trading Trouba to get Reilly..no.

Obviously thats not what the question was, but if i had to take one or the other, its Trouba. Would i like to have BOTH, hell yes! if the other GM is not keeping him, you need to find that out before the other guys do, although i seriously doubt hes not thinking of keeping him.
