Default Who are you handing the Conn Smythe Trophy to?

I'm not even putting Quick on the list. One awesome game, two or three good games, and then a bunch of average or even subpar games can't possibly win this thing.

    So who do ya got?

Agree, it has to be Doughty. He plays half the game every night.

Are we supposed to pick the guy that:
    a) Deserves it.
    b) Will win it based on how the voters go?

    I was pro-Kopitar a round ago.
    Now... I am very pro-Quick.

Overall stats mean much less for Conn Smythe (and everybody knows I love stats).
Big moments in key games rule all for Conn Smythe.
(my way of saying Quick's stinkers may be forgotten if LA wins the cup. And Doughty has had some stinkers too... he didn't do much in Game 7 vs. CHI)

Jon Quick has been an absolute BEAST in the games that matter.
Quick is my pick for Conn Smythe... especially with last night's game fresh in voters minds.

Doughty has been the best Kings player, EASILY is the MOST DESERVING player of the Conn Smythe this year.

Quick or Justin Williams will likely win it though. Stats man, and that shutout last night. Dumb writers picking trophies have terrible and very short memories.

Justin Williams. Without his consistent heroics, the Kings would not have even gotten out of the first round. The guy beasted in every game 7 (all three of them) and had already has 6 points in the finals, including an OT game-winner. He's not the sexy choice, but he's the obvious one in my mind.

Quick had one game-stealing great game.

Dobber could have won the first two games (and played better) than Quick did. No way he should get it. Not when the Kings would be in the exact same spot they are now if Crawford, Fleury, Lundqvist, Rinne, Anderson, Smith, Hiller, Niemi, Luongo, Lack, Bryzgalov, Price, Halak, Bernier, Reimer, Howard, Lehtonen, Scrivens, Fasth, Ramo, Bobrovsky, Rask, Miller, Neuvirth, Varlamov, Ward, Bishop or Elliott were in net for them.

Quick, Kopitar, Doughty, Williams, Carter are all good choices.
Whoever has the best game 4 will win it.

    My top 3:

    1. Kopitar
    2. Williams
    3. Doughty

If Kopitar continues his non existant offensive play, then Williams and Doughty get bumped up and he drops to 3.

I agree, Quick shouldnt even be mentioned this year. I heard the announcers say last night that he's already given up close to 40 more goals than he did in his last cup run?

    Jon Quick facing elimination:
    Game 4 vs. SJ. 39 shots against, 36 saves. .923 sv%
    Game 5 vs. SJ. 30 shots against, 30 saves. 1.000 sv%
    Game 6 vs. SJ. 26 shots against, 25 saves. .962 sv%.
    Game 7 vs. SJ. 40 shots against, 39 saves. .975 sv%.
    Game 6 vs. ANA. 22 shots against, 21 saves. .955 sv%.
    Game 7 vs. ANA. 27 shots against, 25 saves. .926 sv%.
    Game 7 vs. CHI. 41 shots against, 37 saves. .902 sv%.

Total in Games Facing Elimination: 225 shots against, 213 saves. .947 sv%
Record in Games Facing Elimination: 7-0

And if you want to trash Quick's first two games... might as well trash on Doughty's first three games of the SCF.
Doughty is -1 thru 3 games of the SCF... with 1 goal on his 1 shot on net.
C'mon Dobber... Doughty has been solid... but I think the "stat watchers" are looking at Doughty's place among scoring leaders a little too much.

Doughty could have won it in 2012 and in 2014 he will. The amount of media coverage on him the past 2 weeks using words like "superstar" makes it pretty clear he's become a huge fan favourite around the league during these playoffs.

I think Doughty wins. The forwards did very well but neither one stands out from the pack.

Sorry man, you have a couple of typos. It should say "Los Angeles Kings facing elimination":

And then the chart should be worded:

Game 4 vs. SJ. Allowed 39 perimeter shots against their average goalie so he could make just 36 saves. .923 sv%
Game 5 vs. SJ. Allowed 30 perimeter shots against their average goalie so he could make just 30 saves. 1.000 sv%
Game 6 vs. SJ. Allowed 26 perimeter shots against their average goalie so he could make just 25 saves. .962 sv%.
Game 7 vs. SJ. Allowed 40 perimeter shots against their average goalie so he could make just .975 sv%.
Game 6 vs. ANA. Allowed 22 perimeter shots against their average goalie so he could make just .955 sv%.
Game 7 vs. ANA. Allowed 27 perimeter shots against their average goalie so he could make just .926 sv%.
Game 7 vs. CHI. Allowed 41 perimeter shots against their average goalie so he could make just .902 sv%.

I went ahead and fixed your chart for you

Like I said - and I even listed each goalie - the other goalies would have done the same thing. But if you sub in any one of 180 other NHL defensemen in that lineup instead of Doughty, and they're out first round.
