Default As Predicted - Cap projected to exceed 70mil

Not exactly 'news' per se, we all knew it was going up this year, but the numbers I was reading previously had it at around $68 or $69mil

I was reading how James Mirtle had provided a table whereby $3.7 billion in revenue would equate to a salary cap of $70.6 million and a salary floor of $53.4 million. $3.72 billion in revenue would allow the salary cap to rise to $71.0 million with a salary floor of $53.7 million.

The $5.2 billion Canadian broadcast rights will not factor into the salary cap figure until the 2015-16 season, so the cap should continue to rise next year as well.

The NHL surely has some pretty dope actuaries... so this probably isn't much of a surprise.
$71m has been the prediction since last winter, IIRC.

I'm still thinking it will be right there - since Bettman has sort of steered people towards that thought.
There'd simply be too much grumbling if the number was too far off $71m.

You can always rely on Bettman & Co. to find the answer (or number) they were looking for!!!

I honestly don't know if it is that they are good at predicting things or good at skewing results to match their predictions... either way, bravo... I guess.

So when's the next NHL lockout scheduled for??

How long are Duncan Keith and Marion Hossa going to holdout until their insane contracts are restructured next season??
