True... Nobody has watched the Isles since the 80's... media included.
Which is a big reason why nobody seems to think they will be one of the better teams in the East before long.

This is a win win situation for both parties involved. The Islanders need Boyle and assuming the contract offer meets with Boyle's approval good for him as well. Although I hated living on Long Island I can see why many people love living there and perhaps Boyle wants that kind of lifestyle for his family. Its looking like the Icelanders make the playoffs next season
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

What does this have to do with the Sharks?

Boyle has always wanted to play in Ottawa

Not saying he'll sign here at all, just makes more sense than signing in NY

I think it was a comedic jab at you for being a little bit of a Sens homer?

I'm not sure though, as I'm new to these boards, so it's just a crazy guess.............

Gah, every time i think i know who my keepers are, something changes like this! Now I have to decide if boyle on the islanders bumps him ahead of any of the guys in bold below... any quick thoughts on that?
10 team pts-only keeper league - keep 10 plus 10 from past/present farm. No bench: entire active roster counts. Goalies: 2 pts/win + 3/shutout. 82 adds / year. NHL playoffs count for separate prize.

    F: J Eichel, M Tkachuk, J Guentzel, E Pettersson, P Laine, R Thomas, C Kreider, M Boldy, J Kyrou, M Backlund, F Vatrano, N Niederreiter, R Rakell, M Marchment, M Domi
    D: A Fox, S Theodore, R Andersson, B Montour, S Durzi, D Keith
    G: F Andersen, S Knight, J Swayman
    IR: J Hughes, M Stone, M Grzelcyk, S Perunovich
    Farm: L Raymond, O Wahlstrom, S Skinner, C Addison, Y Chinakhov, J Perreault

I still wouldn't keep the 38 year old dman over any guys you have bolded.. He may do well playing behind Tavares and Okposo, but he won't be winning any Norris trophies.. And remember, he's 38 and doesn't have too too much left in the tank.. Atleast not enough to keep him over your other guys.. Your already keeping Iginla and St.Louis.. You will be able to draft 40 point dmen!!

Keep in mind that where Boyle plays is totally up to him. He can go to free agency July 1st. He will have to decide between the money and term contract that I assume NYI will offer him and going to a contender with the chance at another Cup.

I've heard rumours of Detroit, TB and Ottawa as being very interested in him, not that they are necessarily Cup contenders next year but I think there will be many teams interested in adding this puck-moving veteran.

Rumors are, Boyle will test FA and not sign with the NYI.

    http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...ns-with-isles/

If accurate, the Islanders will likely try to flip Boyle’s rights after acquiring them last week from San Jose in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick. Perhaps Tampa Bay is still interested?

Of note, the Isles managed to flip Christian Ehrhoff’s rights to Buffalo (for a fourth-round pick) after acquiring them in 2011 from Vancouver (also for a fourth-round pick) and failing to sign the defenseman, who ended up inking a big deal with the Sabres.

Boyle, 37, is apparently looking for a two-year deal.

There appears to be a very slim to no chance Boyle signs with the #Isles. At this stage of career he wants to play for contender. #NHL

The Islanders are the best in the league at trading away picks for guys who don't sign with them, absolutely stellar

if hes set on signing with a contender, he should take (alot) less money. any team could use another righty puck-moving D depending on the price even if boyle is kinda old now.

if hes willing to accept a less money and possibly a lesser role, he can choose from all the heavy favorites like chicago/boston/pittsburgh/anaheim/etc. only team that doesnt need him is probably LA since they have doughty/voynov already playing top 4 RD minutes.

boston is already tight against the cap and have a lot of young cheap guys that can step in. i think the pens and hawks are in a similar situation. anaheim seems like the best fit, i was never too confident about their D. i suppose if boyle signs cheap enough he can go to almost any team, but my best is he goes to anaheim unless another contender overpays for him.

That and the increase will absorb the penalties Boston are going to recieve for their bonuses that they paid this season - believed to be around $4 million
