After reading your take in the post titled "Fleury + Drouin for Hall", I realized omg this guy has it all figured out. I was already thinking along those lines.
When there are so many good goalies available and so little good forwards available why not move top end goalies (who are easily replaced) for top end forward and Dmen ( who are impossible to find). The numbers, the way you put them, just made sense to me.
So... I made some moves.
Rask for Kopitar and a 2nd rd pick (9th overall) likely a Bergeron or Turris.
Fleury for Gardiner and a 1st rd pick (7th overall) likely Johansen or O'Reilly
I have the 2nd overall pick, Bishop, and I can pick a goalie like
Bernier or Mason or Khudobin in later rounds as my backup.
My forward group is easily the top in my pool. With a projection close to 900 points
Where the next closest GM is at 800
The difference between Rask + Fleury 190 and Holtby + Bishop 150 is only 40 points.
So I still come out about 60 points up.
Rask and Fleury $12m for 190 points. $3m left for 2 forwards.
Holtby and Bishop $4.1m for 150 points. $10.9m left for 2 forwards.
Which is a better scenario. ( I know it's obvious)
