    Default Dustin Byfuglien next season?

Can anyone confirm that he is being moved to F next season? Will he still be used at the point on PP?

In my league he is a beast as a D-man. Our top 10 players from FHG in my league are:

    1 Sidney Crosby
    2 Jamie Benn
    3 Alex Ovechkin
    4 Claude Giroux
    5 Dustin Byfuglien 8th
6 David Backes 10th (traded him for Quick late in the season)
    7 Erik Karlsson
    8 Nicklas Backstrom 6th
    9 Joe Pavelski
    10 Brandon Dubinsky 20th

I have a very balanced team of multi-cat studs and solid goal tending. I picked these guys in later rounds and locked up goal tending early on.
As you can see Backstrom and Byfuglien alone were PP studs for me. I don't know what to think of him as a F? Lower SOG, Hits, and maybe PPP?

Is he a trade high candidate?
Will I lose value on him playing F all year?
I could try to trade for picks/players and upgrade to a better F keeper than him I guess. Maybe I should just wait 5 months and think about it them, lol!!!

My keepers as of right now are:

    1 N. Mackinnan
    2 Nicklas Backstrom
    3 Dustin Byfuglien
    4 P.K. Subban
    5 J. Quick
    6 Tuuka Raask

We keep six, its a 8 team Yahoo Roto. I finished 2nd and it could have went my way with just a few tweaks ( very few tweaks in fact)

    Thank you for looking,

    Steve

If he stays in Winnipeg, Maurice has said he prefers him at forward.

For PP, I thought he always played in front of the net?

If he gets moved (there's speculation), then he probably shifts back to D. That being said, he should hold D eligibility for at least another year either way. He's worth holding at this point I think.

I think he will be moved to the front of the net and they will have Trouba on the point for the PP.

Haven't got a lot of time to respond, but I can say that Buff will play as a forward next season, and on D in 4-on-4 situations, including overtime. He's far too good on the point on the PP, so he'll stay back there, aside from the odd time that Maurice wants to shake things up. For these reasons, I expect that he'll maintain D status for another year, at least.

In a yahoo league you have nothing to worry about this yr. Burns like 90% of last yr played forward and wasn’t switched. Yahoo is always slow when it comes to switching positions. If Big Buff is switched out of D availability I’ll be surprised. Yahoo is also notorious for adding a position, but not taking away one also. Skinner last yr was originally C/LW, when he came back from injury he was a C/LW/RW, and he never played center the last half of the yr. So you have nothing to worry about Big Buff losing his D position this yr.

Maurice has announced that Big Buff will be a forward next year, and I think it will make him less effective.

His hits will take a hit. His shots will be down, which could also translate to less goals.

In Yahoo, you can probably still slot him as a defenceman, but don't expect the same you got out of him last year.

Somewhat disagree with this, if Big Buff still mans the point on their top PP unit, which I think he will since he did an excellent job last year, his value doesn't take a hit in my opinion. I don't think his shots will be down and neither will his hits if he plays forward either. I owned him last season and didn't see any of his numbers regress when Claude Noel decided to move him to forward and when Maurice took over.

Er... completely the opposite? As a winger you can rack up hits on the forecheck, and he's shooting from higher-probability areas thereby getting more goals.

    Just calculated the numbers:
Since moving to forward January 11 (all stats are "per game")...
    Goals: 0.313
    Assists: 0.375
    Points: 0.688
    Hits: 3.781
    Shots: 3.188

As a defenseman (games prior to January 11):
    Goals: 0.217
    Assists: 0.522
    Points: 0.739
    Hits: 2.000
    Shots: 3.348

    He almost doubled his hits.
