    Default Lehner or Anderson

Need to choose one of two for a keeper league.

    Robin Lehner or Frederick Andersen.

    Thoughts?

despite Gibson's play I think Andersson starts the season as No 1 if over his injury... Lehner starts as back up but that could easily be the other way around by the end of the season! If you have Gibson Andersson is the safer bet as you have both bases covered

In a keeper I'd want Lehner...better goalie and he's being groomed to be the #1, he won't be the starter this season but he should get more starts because they know he'll be taking over the year after so they'll want to be sure he is ready and had the experience

Long term I think you have to go with Lehner. If you want to win now, then next season, and only next season, you go with FA.

Lehner over Andersen, but it's tough these are two of the best young goalies in the world. Although I don't think it's a sure thing Gibson pushes Andersen out of the way like seems to be the general consensus, it can't be ignored that Gibson is a much bigger threat than....Chris Driedger? Not much in the Sens' pipeline for goaltending, the crease is Lehner's for the forseeable future....you know, as soon as Craig Anderson moves on.

Lehner because of his coaching background, Anderson because the team in front of him is currently superior

Perhaps the next 2 or 3 seasons Anderson will most likely provide better numbers but farther out I really like Lehner to take the top spot in Ottawa and keep it for quite some time. Then again if they don't develop the blueline up Canada's capital city all bets are off...
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

Driedger's actually pretty good and should be a backup soon, but Marcus Hogberg is the best guy after Lehner

They're ok prospects, sure. But nowhere near the level of Gibson which is what I was getting at. If Driedger or Hogberg are ever threatening Lehner, then something has gone horribly wrong in his development.

Hogberg is basically following the same path as lehner did. don't count him out. Could make a good Swedish duo.

Anyway as as far as talent and opportunity lehner is better in both categories than Andersen

Don't count out players just because they don't have the name-value yet. That being said, I don't see Lehner being challenged by either in the same way that Schneider wouldn't have been challenged by Lack.

I came into this expecting a different Anderson vs. Lehner!

I agree, take Lehner. Both could end up becoming elite starters, but I like Lehner's chances of becoming a workhorse better.

Lehner is being groomed to take over #1 in Ottawa, probably start by mid next season as C Anderson's contract expires.
