Personally, I would definitely take that. You will have to wait a bit longer for Toffoli's breakout than Nyquist's took but I see them as within 10 or 15 points of each other, and you get Seth Jones as icing on the cake, who will be a stud a couple years down the road? Score!

But based on the limited information, I likely take this deal in almost any format. I especially take it where you get a bonus for defense points. Seth Jones should be gold in that category, and I would trade Nyquist striaght up for him, but you are also getting Toffoli, which is gravy!

2-for-1 trades always depend on league depth.

For example, let's assign these players some point values:

65pts Nyquist
60pts Toffoli

40pts S.Jones


Now, let's evaluate as a 2-for-2 trade.
In some shallow leagues, the waiver wire forward is a 60pt guy and the waiver wire defense is a 40pt guy.
In some deep leagues, the waiver wire forward is a 45pt guy and the waiver wire defense is a 25pt guy.

In a shallow league:
Nyquist (65pts) + WaiverWireD (40pts) = 105pts.
Toffoli (60pts) + S.Jones (40pts) = 100pts.
Win for Nyquist.

In a deep league:
Nyquist (65pts) + WaiverWireD (25pts) = 90pts
Toffoli (60pts) + S.Jones (40pts) = 100pts
Win for Toffoli/S.Jones.


So... without league details - hard to evaluate.

I'd take a deal like this in a second. Now Pengwin7 does provide some food for thought here, I think you have to look at the long term possibilities of this trade. I think the upside for both is similar; however, you are also possibly getting an elite D in the making back in this exchange. In three to four years down the road, you should be quite happy that you pulled the trigger on this trade.

That is a moderately deep league. What Pengwin didn't mention above is that the waiver wire D likely doesn't have the upside that Jones has, which is to say he has potential to reach 50 or 60 points, and if you're only risking 5 points by taking the potential in a shallow league, you take it.

This is moot though, because it is a deeper league then that, therefore hopefully you have already completed this deal.

Nyquist is the best player in the deal. It might be hard to find a waiver wire D to replace Jones but it Nyquist takes another step you might be kicking yourself in the future.

Yeah I have jones and T Tofoli now. I like the deal, but agree that Nyquist is exciting. Interesting that Nyquist is 5 years Jones senior and 2 years Tofolis. Where will they be at Nyquist age? I like the upside
