It depends on the depth of your league, but I'd more than likely probably steer clear. Specially Vinny in a cap league.

Well its in 2 different Leagues.

I were most thinking about what kind of production to expect from these 2 Guys ? Then I might have an idea if the are worth adding/Trading away/keeping.

I think Matthias could still have some untapped upside that we haven't seen yet. A couple of the writers in Dobber's guides over the past couple years have pegged Matthias as a guy with potential 30-30 upside; we know he has the goal-scoring ability (in spurts), and he could possibly be a decent depth C, depending on how things shake out in Vancouver. He's someone to keep an eye on at the very least.

I have no interest in Vinny at this point, to be honest.

I don't think Matthias has 30-30 upside, I think his max is 25-25, but more likely to top out at 20-20. He isn't young enough to have a huge upside.

He's at the age where Bertuzzi jumped from 55 points to 85, so I wouldn't write him off based on age. That said, a career high of 24 points (or 21 in 48 games in 12/13) is not at all encouraging. I'm not sure why this guy has been hyped all these years. His junior numbers weren't amazing. 34 points in 67 OHL games in his draft year. 33 points in 88 AHL games. 104 points in 330 NHL games. From what I can see, he has never had exceptional production at any level. I don't expect much. 20-20 would be nice.

Obviously it would depend on the cost to acquire the player as well.

I mean if Matthias is on the waiver wire then its a no brainer. If you are paying a 1st round lottery pick thats another thing entirely.

I think many would agree that Lecavalier is probably a player we should all avoid, especially if the cap is counted.

SM has upside especially if Vancouver puts him onto the 2nd line, encourages him to muck it up and throw his weight around. Its certainly possible that could happen. If it were me I would be carefully watching the Booth situation as both are UFA at the end of 2014-15 and perhaps the Canucks retain only 1 of the 2.

My hunch is SM ends up on the 3rd line, takes a majority of the defensive draws which crimp his point totals
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

Matthias is a 3rd line center on basically any team in the league, where as Vinny will be getting paid big bucks to play a top six role and get significantly more PP time. Give me Vinny, though he's nowhere near as valuable in fantasy leagues as he once was.

On point. Matty while being a warrior, had every chance in the world to run away with a top -6 and even first line center job. He will be a very good 3rd center and thats about it.
Just get him in March, if you need Goals then since Marchthias will get >50% of his points in this month.

I'd be impressed to see Matthias score 45 point, I don't think it's likely he ever gets more than that.

Vinny will probably max out around 55 points considering his usage in Philly. If he gets moved somewhere to be a guaranteed top 2 centre then he could maybe score 65. Both those estimates are if he plays a full season too, his recent track record show that he'll probably miss 20% of the games so his scoring will likely be 10-15 points lower.

Matthias looked good for the Florida Canucks.........I mean he played pretty well for the Vancouver Panthers.............

    Seriously, both are 40 point players. Vinny = 40-45, Mattias = 35-40
