Jose Theodore was MVP once and although he spent several years as #1 he never came close to that level again.
My piece for tomorrow looks at Jeff Carter as a fantasy "one hit wonder" of sorts. He never really came close to that insane year in 2008-09.
Any other one hit wonders that come to mind?
(I'm also open to some some you tube videos of musical one hit wonders. We can all listen to Chumbawamba on a continuous loop)
I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.

Jacques Richard. Never heard of him? He played 556 games in the NHL with Atlanta (Flames that is), Buffalo and the Quebec Nordiques. In 1980-81, he scored 103 points while with Quebec ( 52 - 51 - 103 ) which ended up representing almost a third of his ten year career total points of 347.
His picture is next to Webster's definition of "one hit wonder".

Gonna go out on a limb, and this one hurts cause I've always loved these guys and long been an owner in multiple leagues...
Rick Nash - Every year it seems more and more unlikely that he can replicate his 40 goals and 79 points in 08-09.
Eric Staal - Remember that time he hit 100 points as a 21 year old?!?!?
Other notables:
Gionta - 48G, 89P in 05. Has not surpassed 30G or 60P since.
Kesler - 41G
Mike Green - maybe we can peg him as a two-hit wonder
For all the Leafs fans, a name that will always sting, Andrew Raycroft.

Cheechooo Train is the poster boy IMO.
Other guys: Gionta is a great one... Blake and Frolov.
Jim "Ace Ventura" Carey
Steve Penney
Ken Hodge Jr
HM - Rob Brown. He had one season 100+pts, then dropped to 80pts then kept sliding. Hard to call 80 pts a bad season but coming off his 115pt campaign, the writing was on the wall and gets an HM for a one hit wonder.
Sorry if those names go back a bit. Those are the ones that haven't been mentioned yet that I can think of.

"Cleavage is like the sun. You can look, but dont stare.. Unless you're wearing sunglasses."
What about Fabian Brunnstrom? He scored a hatty in his first game and everyone fell all over themselves to sign him off their FA list, now he's not even in the league
Bernie Nicholls. If you look at his career there's one season that REALLY jumps out when he played with a certain potential future Islanders' president. For 1.5 seasons he was that era's Chris Kunitz.

I'd say anybody whose career high is 20+ points above their 2nd best year... is a "One-Hit Wonder".
As last 5-10 years of NHL hockey goes...
Danny Briere: 95... 72, 68, 65, 60
As for musical acts - who can forget ol' Crazy Town.
Here's... Butterfly
Depends on what you call a hit (career high of 51 points in his last full season, one big playoff prior), but...Chris Kontos may count.
Here's my one hit wonder in music:
Old school guy: Warren Young. Scored 40 goals in 80 games in 85-86 with an insane 30.8 shooting percentage. I think he was playing on a line with Mario Lemieux. Only scored 32 goals the rest of his career.
Another old school guy: Gary Leeman. 51 goals one season. Only 47 goals the next four-ish seasons combined.
Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.
12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.
League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.
Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.
We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.
Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid
Olaf Kolzig
*Goalies are kinda the easier players to pick out!
