For the 2nd team in my sig. Would it be worth trading him for the 2014 14th overall pick?

He was drafted 9th overall in the leagues 2012 draft.

I see Girgensons being the all-important & invaluable third or fourth line guy who scores 30-35 points a year, but rewards you with BLK and +/- (eventually). What do you hope to get with the 14th pick???

Well he ended up offereing me a 2015 2nd, which would likely be a late 2nd as he won the league this year, plus another piece. Would the 2nd + Lazar be too much to ask?

Oh I disagree, he's one of the few bright stars the Sabres have on their roster. He won't be a top tier option by any stretch but I think he'll fill a role not unlike what we've seen from Gallagher. I'd put his upside at 50-60 pts probably. The other plus working in his favor is that BUF has blown up the team so it's a free for all for those top 6 spots, I see no reason why he won't earn one of them next season and hold onto it while the Sabres rebuild.

I don't really understand what this new offer is. As for your original post, I think Girgensons can give you exactly what Callahan gives you. 50-60 points and really good peripheral stats. Really like this kid.

Sorry, didn't realize how confusing I made that. He asked me what it would take for Girgensons and I said I would possibly move him for his 2014 1st (14th overall). He then offered me a 2015 2nd + a prospect (hasn't gotten back to me on who that would be).

Judging by the feedback, would I be better off keeping Girgensons?

I'm with mcgoo here. I think his value is pretty high on that team. I remember coming up to the trade deadline, Murray said everyone is available with the exception of Girgensons. To me that sounds like a guy who will be more then a 3rd or 4th line guy on this team.

    I'd rather keep Girgensons.
