He's in a good spot I think with Minny. Looks like the team has in front of him has confidence in him. I can see him getting a 2 yr deal with the Wild. The Wild aren't far off and I think they would feel comfortable with him in the crease as evidence with the playoff performance of this years team.

I think he definitely bought himself another year in the NHL.

He's in the NHL next year. He's earned it. He had a great run with Minnesota and I'd be shocked if they did not re-sign him.

If Halak doesn't sign in NYI, I could see them making a pitch.

This is what I think as well.

He has earned another NHL deal somewhere but I dont think it will be with Minny, unless they are thinking of buying out Backstrom. I dont think Harding comes back, but with Backstrom still signed, I dont see them re-signing Bryz.

probably kills a couple bears in the offseason, trains with zangief for a bit and comes back next season with a vengeance.

in all serious, i think he tries for a 1A/1B type situation, not sure if that will be with Minnesota though.

Minnesota is in a tough spot goaltending-wise. Bryz is decent but not a go-to option. They have money to spend and if they decide to pass on Vanek or another big-name skater they could always target a guy like Hiller if they're not yet sold on Kuemper as the full-time guy.

(I think Backstrom gets bought out unless he is still listed as injured this summer. They used one on Gilbert and have one left. Harding... who knows?)

I dont think they buyout Harding when they can simply put him on LTIR. Good point on Backstrom and the IR situation as far as a buyout goes. Could this be the 2nd year in a row they want to buy someone out and get stung because they are on the IR?

Backstrom won't be the only one. Players know how to play that game.

While Backstrom could get bought out, I'm not totally convinced Minnesota will go that way. He was injured all last year, so I don't think that's an indication of what he has left in the tank. If the surgery brings him back to health, $3.4 million for a 1A/1B starter is not that bad. And given how fragile Kuemper is, maybe a solid year of development in the AHL wouldn't be such a bad thing for him either...That dude hasn't had a decent workload since 2010-11...
