    Default Jeff Petry

I keep holding out hope on this guy. I like his hit and block numbers, and if he could ever hit 30+ points he'd be fairly useful. He has some offensive pedigree, based on his college scoring, and I am not holding the -22 against him, because his team is a complete and utter shitshow. That said, he's 26, so I'm starting to question whether there's much left in the way of upside. Is anyone else still hoping, or should I have given up years ago?

There is no upside with him, keep him for his cheap salary and his hits & blks. When the other guys like Nurse, Klefbom, Marincin start taking over the business, Petry will take his place as the next Andrew Ference if he's still on the team at that point.

Not sure if he'll even reach Ference stature.

I've always understood Petry was a pretty solid top 4 guy in real life, pretty much the only legit top 4 the Oilers have. Not much in fantasy though, especially at this age.....it's probably just not gonna happen. I'm sure he can hit 30 points someday since he's an ok puckmover and gets a lot of minutes but I wouldn't expect more than that.

Some guys are good puck movers but don't find ways to translate that into points. I think Petry is one of them. Still good for secondary points (17-25 pts is not terrible) and hit/blk stats.

Yeah, it's really going to depend what he signs for this year. If he stays under 2 million, he might get to stay on my roster.
