I don't see why it's unfair when others say that Halak was NOT a product of of the Blues system...

I think he was and that his numbers with the Blues will not be replicated elsewhere.

I would assume by "not a product of the system" they mean he would still be a solid goalie on a different team. Of course playing for the Blues will lead to better numbers than playing for the Islanders or Oilers, but it does not mean he can't be a decent NHL goalie on those teams. Having a GAA above 2.23 on a much worse team does not prove that Halak is a product of the Blues and nothing else.

Elliott is a system goalie because he absolutely failed everywhere else he played. I still don't know about Bryzgalov but the numbers seem to say he was a bit of a system goalie in Phoenix. Dan Ellis was a system goalie in Nashville. Halak was good in Montreal, he was good in St. Louis, and he was good in his short stint with Washington.

If a goelie's numbers regrees on a new team, I don't know how you can say hisold team didn't play a role in the numbers. I never said Halak wasn't an NHL calibre goalie. I just said s GAA and and SV% would take a hit if he wnt from an elite defensive team likethe Blues to a team that doesn't understand the word defense, like theIsles.

    No way he posts a 2.23 GAA and a 916 SV%

Not with Capuano as the coach.

Lehtonen is a better goalie on a better team with a better coach, GM, Owner, etc...
Not totally true. I agree his GAA will likey go up but I think he maintains or gets a slight bump in Save% as he will see more rubber than he did in St. Louis. He'd up 2 or 3 goals on 20ish shots resulting in less than stellar %. And yes Crapuano must go for this team to make a push next season. And yes I'd also stick with Lehtonen, I just like his situation much better.

Got a lot more responses than I was expecting, thank you all!

What I am expecting is a higher GAA (hopefully not to high), most likely better sv% due to shot volume, less shutouts and less wins. So overall sounds like a downgrade to me.

As for people asking what the X was. We really haven't gotten into full trade talks because I wasn't sure if it was even worth the conversation. But the initial message was Halak and Bergeron for Lehtonen + somehting small. This is for 20 H2H Dynasty with the stats below. Since we start two goalies they are very highly in demand which is why the price would be so much.

    Skaters: G/A/+-/PIM/PPP/SHP/SOG/HTS/BLK
    Goalies: GS/W/SV/GAA/SV%/SO

Revisiting this old Halak post. Well he's played as well, if not better than expected. The team has played much better than expected and I'm still not sold on Cappy.
Halak's #'s so far. Solid but not spectacular as expected. Would you guys take him over Lehtonen now?

Why? Halak hasn't been that good this year. He had an incredible run in November and otherwise he is lucky to be playing for such a good team (again). His numbers are down from STL, as expected. Nobody expected NYI to be this good, this fast. Halak has been a stabilizing presence in net, and has been a very important addition to the team - but that has more to do with rostering POulin, Nabby and Nilsson last year. He hasn't stolen many games this year, but he hasn't had to. Very average, to be honest.

And that's all they really expected from him Blue, especially after the past couple of seasons. As I said solid, but not spectacular. On a side note, Johnson posts his 3rd solid game in a row.
