I think it's this years pick, so McDavid doesn't factor into it. If McDavid was a chance for the pick, it would give me pause, but it already being set at 5th overall leads me to believe it's a 2014 selection.Originally Posted by Axeman33

Ya I saw that but I was simply referring to him dropping quality players for lesser quality ones to make his team worse for next season.

I guess I am in the minority here, but without seeing the state of your team, pretty hard to judge the trade.
With your league settings Backstrom gives you Elite Assists, Elite PPP, is negligible in SHP, goals and blks (for a forward), and is a negative in +/-, Hits, Shots, PIMS.
I can appreciate where your trading partner is coming from if he is rebuilding. With the cats in your league Backstrom's value is not as high as one might think. I suppose it depends how high you are on Galchenyuk and what you think you can land with the 5th pick.
But then again, I unloaded Benn and Getzlaf for for similar style packages and everyone thinks I'm nuts.
I guess we will see in a couple years.
