I'd like to see what kind of numbers he would have if not for the lockouts and the KHL years.

Yeah its pretty scary when you look at it.

Jagr's also one of the most entertaining personalities in the game - some of the stuff he says off the cuff is absolutely hilarious.

and some of it (even though it often comes out sorta funny) is remarkably poignant...for example:

Yeah I was thinking the same thing after I posted about it - there's a kind of quirky air of wisdom about him.

I used to really dislike him when he was with the Pens in the 90's. He was cocky as hell, almost arrogant - but he could always walk the walk. But he's really matured into a player I can't help but admire, he's done everything and still performing at a level that is amazing for his age.

He'd probably be 2nd all-time in both goals and points.....pretty crazy when you really look at the numbers. I'd say Ev's call of around 2,100 points is about right, and he'd be around 850 goals as well.

He would have finished 2nd all time in career scoring, nicely ahead of Messier but still a long ways from the Great One.

Yeah, Gretzky's numbers just don't make any sort of sense... it is crazy that the second best point total all time has almost 1/3 less points than Gretz in 300 more games.

(Lemieux is pretty close on points/game and it makes you wonder what might have been if he had Jagr's freakish good health)

No kidding, their points per game are close:

Lemieux 1.88 (finished with 1723 points - 9th all time)
Gretzky 1.92 (finished with 2857 points)

Gretzky played 572 more games (7 seasons more)

Defensive systems began to tighten up after Lemieux retired, he probably would have ended up with between 2300-2400 career points.

Jagr should pass Dionne and Ron Francis next season for fourth all time, he needs two 65 point seasons to pass Howe and catch Messier.
