Default Can Ward become a good NHL starter again?

Just wondering what everyone thinks for next season.

Do we finally see a healthy Ward for an entire season?

    In another jersey? - Likely

Can he be good again? - He has played a Dipietro amount of games over the last two seasons, has he lost his NHL game because of that?

I am more keeping my fingers crossed he can become good and play an entire season again as a Ward owner. I hate selling players for cheap

I can't list my 2nd main keeper as there are too many players, but it is a keep all H2H points-only league

At this point, Ward is a bona-fide bandaid-boy, and hasn't played anywhere near the level he needs to for almost 3 years now......I've got little faith and traded him at the start of this season. With the way things went in Carolina this year, I'm glad I did. He' s making a hefty contract, so I feel that will be a very tough contract to deal, but a fresh start could make all the difference for Ward. I wouldn't bank on it or hold my breathe through, I'd plan for more of the same from Ward and expect to need to improve your goaltending this offseason.

    Yes it's possible.

    1) Change of scenery is probably the best thing for him at this point. Easier said then done with that cap hit though.
    2) He's played a total of 47 games the past two seasons. So short-term history tells us he'll most likely have some nagging injuries that keep him out of games from time to time. I think he's had quite a few groin issues. Those injuries seems to keep re-occuring once they hapeen a few times.

3rd stringer tops, with spot starts in a league that has Saves as a category. If desperate I would grab him late in the season (if he isnt injured by then). Ward and Bobrovsky seem to heat up in Feb/Mar, but would never draft him again.

Ward has burned me far too many times in one year leagues. It got so bad in the 09-10 season I made a sign "Cam Ward ruined my Fantasy Team" and brought it to a Flames game, shoved it on the glass for all of warmups.

    He was not amused.

Agreed, with a promising khudobin coming up in Carolina I see them defiantly getting rid of their injury plagued goalie. He would be a filler goalie, spot starts or one of your other goalie gets injured and theirs no one better. He is the Marian Gaborik of goalies.

    I think Ward is toast.
30-year old goalie that won it all in his rookie season.

I've long commented about how goaltending is such a mental position.
Once a goalie wins a cup... it's hard to completely bring that same competitiveness and focus every night that they did for that cup run.

The elite goalies can do it.
But Ward is not an elite goalie.

I think he'd need a change of scenery for any kind of revitalization.
    And, he'd need a no-pressure environment.

There just ain't many teams that fit that description.
Maybe Ward/Halak can be the NYI platoon.
    I don't know.
I don't see a situation where I'd buy on Cam Ward next year... maybe if Miller signed somewhere else and Ward/Allen was all STL could piece-together.
But shit... I'd buy on any goalie that lands in St.Louis.

I think Francis does his best to move him for pretty much anything but with that contract, I don't see many teams buying especially with the options that will be floating around out there.

I think they end up buying him out and he becomes a FA. I can see him signing a cheaper deal to be a back up in Toronto or someplace like that.

No smart GM would take Ward at 6.3mill. He’s maybe a 1b goalie max, but I’d say he’s a backup, or KHL player
