Where will Spezza land?

With a Spezza trade looming and all but assured, where do you think he will land?

There are many destinations, but I think St. Louis would be a front-runner right now given their early exit and glaring need for some offense from the C position. Other teams: Colorado, San Jose/LA, and New York all lose tonight. Toronto would be in the mix, as well as Nashville, Carolina, and Phoenix.

Spezza has a 10-team no-trade clause (10 teams he would not accept a trade to).

I think he will stay in Ottawa, but since that isn't an option I chose Nashville. Would love to have him, as he would easily be our best forward.

I am pretty sure that the Blues tried to make something happen during the season. Armstrong talked all year about finding an offensive center, but when he couldn't land one he went after Miller instead. Not sure that they have the right movable assets now to make anything happen... I was hoping something could have been done around Stewart + before he went to Buffalo, but his value was obviously as low as it should have been. I think the Blues would package Shattenkirk for the right guy, just not sure that Spezza is that guy (in the Blues eyes).

Gotta be Toronto. Nobody will argue that TO needs a 1st line centre with Kessel really bad. The salary cap part could be tricky. Buffalo, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, CLB could also be candidates as well.

Toronto has to be very high on the list. Makes perfect sense for him to go there.

I don't really see how Colorado falls into the category of "glaring need for some offense from the C position." In fact of all the teams in the NHL I'd say Colorado has probably the best center depth of all of them. Even if Stastny leaves they will still have exceptional center depth.

It makes sense for Spezza to want to go to Toronto obviously, but I don't see the two teams ever making a major trade.

As for the option of him staying - I didn't put it because that ship has sailed based on all accounts.

Sorry, I only meant that specific comment for the Blues (could apply to the Kings as well as they need more offense in general). I could see Colorado having interest if they lose tonight as they apparently called about him during the season, and who knows what will happen with Stastny and O'Reilly going forward.

Did I miss something that today it became an inevitability that Spezza was being traded? Was there a press release or something? Can't find anything out there..

I also voted other: stays in Ottawa. And I bet the K will be reasonable.
