    Default Maatta or Gelinas

Right now I am trying to sort out my keepers and I am thinking about keeping one of either Maatta or Gelinas to go along with Shattenkirk, Wisniewski and Chara as my keeper d-men. I am leaning towards keeping Maatta but Gelinas' offensive capabilities are also intriguing so which young d-man would you rather have as a long-term keeper prospect?

I'm leaning Gelinas because of where he's at development-wise (same amount of pts in fewer games) and because he's not far from becoming the undisputed PPQB in NJ. I think Maatta is too good to just give up though. See if you can package him for an upgrade to other keeper spots. Maybe Maatta + Wiz for a less injury-prone dman?

Maatta. I think the kid will be special. I don't trust Letang and also think Niskanen signs elsewhere next year. Letang, Maatta and Pouliot are the Pens future offensive threats and Maatta will be the best all-around IMO. Gelinas was kind of a wildcard this year. He did impress, no doubt, but Larsson, Severson and Merrill are still very much in the mix. It also sticks out that the Devils yo-yo'd Gelinas to forward at times this season which has future "Burns/Byfuglien" fingerprints all over it.

I'll go with Maatta as well. Better offensive team and I feel Gelinas might not be able to keep up his offensive production

Maatta for me as well. Sample size for Gélinas is still too small for me to fully trust him yet.

I think Maatta will be the better real-world NHL defenseman.
But I believe that Gelinas is going to churn out better fantasy-hockey-relevant statistics.
Better pts per game, PPP per game, SOG per game, PIM per game.
What stats will Maatta actually win besides +/-?

Tough one... because I think we have to separate what we see from what the numbers will reflect.

I appreciate the comments. Another option I am considering is to try and trade Chara (who still is putting up great stats but is getting up there in age) and keep both Maatta and Gelinas. I think I would be able to get more out of Chara than Wisniewski and I think at this point, although an injury risk, Wisniewski has more fantasy upside than Chara who stats have been declining. Its a bit of a gamble but I could pick up a veteran d-man in the 4th or 5th round.

I definitely think Chara is a "sell high" right now

The reason I listed Wiz as a sell-high option is because of the amount of time he misses to injury. This was not a normal year for him.
