Question Rundblad - Time to cut the cord?

    Team in sig

I picked him up in a deal a couple of years ago (for Boedker, so didn't pay big for him) and am pretty close to saying f**k it. He turns 24 in October so he isn't that old, but he's been traded 3 times already and has barely played any minutes when he does get in the lineup.

All he's ever done is occupy a prospect slot for me...is it time to cut bait or does he have any chance of doing anything anywhere? Chicago is obviously not hurting on D, and Clendening is probably ahead of him on the depth chart (and probably others are ahead of him too).

He has pretty much zero trade value so its a drop to add a prospect - looking at Petan or Kosmachuk.

Remember just a couple years ago he was the 'next Karlsson'? Ev was practically creaming his pants.

I held onto him as long as I could just on the off chance he did anything but cut him this year when it was just same old same old.
Look at it this way man, if for any reason you ever want to reacquire him, I can almost guarantee he'll be there for the taking

If that's your option, then just keep Rundblad, see how the summer goes

Yeah its a tough call...would you drop Shore or Clarkson for Petan/Kosmachuk (its a long-term thinking move)?

As long as he isn't costing you picking up any sure fire prospects, let him languish on your prospect roster. Who knows what might happen? I personally don't think he'll ever amount to much, but I have been wrong on occasion.

Chicago gave up a 2nd rounder for him so thats saying something, but what? I don't think the trade was made for this year because he never got much playing time from the start and Chicago has a solid core of defenceman. So why give up a 2nd is my question? He did actually lead Phoenix in scoring in the pre season. I don't see his value going up before next season but possibly during, so you could get him back cheaply.

He's been good in the AHL whenever he's played there, the offensive game is very much there which is what teams want him for. There is obviously more work to do in the defensive end of the ice, but that can come. He's still definitely worth holding onto.

Lol I posted that rundblad is probably better defensively than karlsson. Rundblad can't play d to save his life...funny all the karlsson doubters in that thread.

Remember fellows it takes D-men longer to develop. Chi will bring him along slowly - if you don't get a good prospect to pick up, hang onto him for another year.

The problem is he would just go to Sweden in a heartbeat. He'd kill it there.
