    Default What's with LA's meltdown???

Haven't had a chance to watch any playoff action yet due to overseas travels, but I've been scoreboard watching like a hawk and I've had to blink twice every time I've seen the scores for this series.

For those who have watched the games... what's going on? Is Quick having a Fleury-like mental breakdown? Is the whole team playing THAT terribly? Or is SJ playing THAT good? What gives?

LA is the LAST team I would've expected to just throw in the towel. They have too much experience and too many proven winners to be playing like this...

Someone with an ability to impact the collapse learned that i went Kings-heavy in my playoff pool and decided to throw a wrench into my plans. Yes, I am very bitter.

They have done a good job figuring out how to beat Quick. They do a lot of passes to get him moving, leading to more goals. Not every goal has been like this, but enough to change momentum and win games.

San Jose is dominating LA in all aspects of the game. It really looks like men vs boys out there. I wouldnt say LA is playing all that bad its just that San Jose is that much better right now. I know its early and there is a lot of hockey to be played but so far in these playoffs based on there play in the first 2 games San Jose is the team to beat.

It's yet another example that we can think of every reason out there for a series to go a certain way and it all gets thrown out the window. It's all about who comes ready to play this week.

He's close to finished as a premier player. One of the reasons the Flyers soured on him, outside of the drama, is that he is small and already had two bad shoulders and stamina issues. He needs to re-find his game if the Kings have any chance.

SJ has looked much faster, stronger and smarter than LA. They keep getting momentum and riding that wave to the tune of 5 goals with LA looking bewildered.

Sutter also decided a slower line up for game 2 would help by adding Matt Greene (who promptly turned the puck over constantly) and going with 11 forwards and 7 D. LA looks like they need an injection of speed and offense but we all know Sutter will not play them that style. Kopitar, Doughty, Toffoli and Carter seem to be the only ones trying to get offense while the others turn it over.

I do not believe this series is over yet, as LA is home for the next two and apparently the Sharks have a tough time there. Also I loaded up on LA for my pool so I would like this to go 7 games

    Bench Quick! Start Schneider!

... err... sorry. After years of watching the Canucks my response to seeing a starting goalie in the west get lit up has become automated.

Quick really shouldnt be that hard to figure out. He's doing the splits pretty much every save he makes. Pick a top corner and hit it. Right now SJ has moved the puck better and seems to be the faster team. This series has been dominated by the Sharks at all levels.

Understandable since Luongo had only been the backup for about a week before getting traded.

People said that about Hasek for years...

Hasek didn't know what Hasek was going to do when it came to stopping the puck on a consistent basis. He flipped and flopped his way into stopping most of the shots coming his way. With Quick, you know what he's going to do.

I'm willing to bet that there were times that Hasek didn't know what he did to stop the puck after having stopped it.

It's funny all the fuss that gets made over Bryz being nuts... at one time the league had Roy, Hasek, Hextall... I think Quick's problem is that is he isn't crazy enough.

He needs to take notes from Ryan Miller. I really think if that guy weren't a professional goalie, he'd be a professional serial killer.
